My Experiences on the Internet and E-mail
Internet is a wonderful tool and full of many different kinds of information that you can access at your fingertips. :) Internet is great. :) I like the fact that you can send people E-mail and Instant Messages at the speed of light. :)  As everyone knows, it is cheaper to use IM and E-mail than making long distance phone calls! :)

A lot of people, especially those who did not grow up on computers, did not know what Yahoo was! Yahoo, as many people know, is a search engine and they offer free web based E-mail.  Take my mother for example: One time she needed to look up something on the Net. Well, I told her that I am going to Yahoo search, she went "Yahoo?!" Fortunately, my sister was behind me so she explained it to our mother what it was. :) You now know what Yahoo! is Mom ? :)

One time, a friend of mine sent everyone a friendship ball chain letter and one of his friends replied only this person had hit REPLY TO ALL instead of REPLY TO SENDER ONLY so everyone saw what this person had said to my friend.  When I realized what had happened, I was laughing so hard that I couldn't stop.  Never send Reply to All on your E-mail program unless  you want everyone know what you are saying to the person who sent you an E-mail!

One time, a few years ago, I was still on a free e-mail service, I once accidentally sent someone an e-mail intending for a friend of mine and I thought she had given me a correct E-mail address.  I realized that I have sent it to the wrong E-mail address when someone wrote me back in Spanish! LOL  I have no way of confirming this friend's E-mail address.  Be sure that you have correct E-mail address before you send someone an E-mail. :)

Internet is not just for browsing through websites/webpages.  You can even chat, play games and Instant message people using program such as AOL IM, ICQ, MSN IM and other instant messages programs. :)

TIPS for E-mail:

There are all kinds of symbols like the smiley etc.  They are called emoticons and e-mail/chatroom abbrievations.  (I will have to find the list but will put down that I know off the top of my head).  Enjoy these cute symbols and abreviations:

     :) or :-) Smile/happy
     :( or :-( Sad/frown
     :p Sticking out tongue/blowing raspberry
     ;) Wink.

E-mail/Chat Abbreviations:

LOL - laughing out loud/lots of laughs.
     BRB - be right back.
ROTF - rolling on the floor.
ROTFL - rolling on the floor laughing.
ROTFLMAO - rolling on the floor laughing my ass off.
LMAO - laughing my ass off.
     BTW - by the way.
TTFM - too techie for me.
LMBO- Laughing my butt off same as LMAO

MY OPINION ON ONLINE SERVICES: whether they are free or pay ISPs:  Nope, I am not complaining but some people think I am complaing but I am ONLY offering my opinion on these services.

About pay ISPs: you are more likely to have stable connection unless you are on AOL.  Some ppl have told me that AOL kicks them off sometimes for no apparent reasons and other times they don't get kicked off.  There are too many probs with AOL for many reasons.  I would not recommend AOL even though I have never used it but someone I know used to have it and they have nothing but problems with them.

Juno:  I have used both pay and free services of Juno Online Serivices Internet and E-mail program. (Juno and Netzero are now United Online services they have merged couple of yrs ago). Now on a pay service the connection is stable and rarely get booted as much as you would on the free services.  As for their free services, it is awful you cannot have stable connection.  For example: I get booted off like after 1hr or so of logging on to the Net and yes, I do move the ads around.  If you use their free services too miuch, you will get a note telling you that you are not allowed to use their free Net service until like after 4 in the morning and alot of time you cannot even log on after 4 in the morning!  Other people who have used Juno freebie services says they are awful but the only good thing I like about it the way their e-mail program is set up but their browser (comes with Juno) really stinks. (added on April 20, 2005). Juno do not use the original program before 6.0 anymore and for free service you can't download email to mail program such as Juno or Outlook Express.  They use the program that is similar to way Netzero is with ads and stuff since they have merged and had 6.0.

Netzero:  They used to have unlimited access befroe the 40hrs caps on people usage hours per household per month (Now it is 10 hrs as of 7/1/2002).  Now, I wouldn't have minded much if I don't use the Net that much but most people use free ISPs as backup to their primary ISPs.  If someone in the household exceeds 10hrs limit they would have the options of paying but they also can pay $10 month a for unlimited Net access by upgrading to Netzero Platnium.  Note: Netzero and Juno have merged last year and are now United Online.

My advice?  Get local ISP if you possibly can cuz they usually can offer better services than the national ones.  ALSO AVOID USING AOL if possible. :).
