He had left for work in the morning just as on any ordinary day,
was not seen in his neighborhood for a period of several hours,
but was then noticed later in the evening,
puttering in his garden,
wearing only shoes, socks, shirt and trousers,
gardening gloves,
and a hat to shade his brow from the sun.
