| The Sun Is Trying To Kill Us | ||||||
| When I was a boy I was taught that the sun’s rays take eight minutes to reach Earth. This benevolent star provides the energy to drive the unending cycle of life. Moisture falls to the ground and sustains plants that thrive on the sun’s rays. The plants make the oxygen that we breathe so we can make the gas that feeds the plants. The solar energy evaporates the water which rises to the sky so that it can fall to the earth and the cycle repeats. The sun is our friend. This is what I was taught. But I think the truth is much darker. I think that the sun is trying to kill us and that this cycle of life frustrates the sun which is hurling death bolts at us and then has to wait eight minutes to see if its arrows strike true. But the plants keep getting in the way. The sun-fool apparently can not figure out that if it would just stop trying to kill us then we would all die. |
