A letter from Shane Salerno on the fate of UC

. . . It appears that for the time being "UC: Undercover" is on an extended, perhaps permanent vacation. I'm not overly optimistic about the prospects for returning this year.

Be that as it may, I want to reiterate as I have in past postings that NBC has been a really good network to my show -- and Jeff Zucker and Scott Sassa kept this show on longer than anyone else would have. I don't believe that. I know it. I also know both men personally. They are good men with really tough jobs. It's easy to dismiss that, but I've seen first hand what they have to do and it's a bear of a lotta work.

While I've always known that you guys were sending postcards and signing petitions -- something many fans of shows on the proverbial bubble do -- I think in recent weeks things might have crossed a line with personal e-mails and such. Therefore, I'm asking that you guys not blitz NBC anymore as I believe that you're sending a message that you don't want to send.

While I share your passion and committment to this show -- without you guys there wouldn't be a show -- I'm also aware that without Jeff Zucker and Scott Sassa there would not be a show at all, in any form.

If this is to be the end, let's go out with class. They know that the show has an incredibly loyal fan base and that the show will be missed. I think truthfully both men will miss aspects of the show.

Don't boycott NBC or drive anyone crazy -- let's just go off quietly into the night. Your passion is clear and I am so grateful to each of you for your loyalty. I sincerely hope that you will support future work of the cast, all of whom share my gratitude to each of you for your loyal viewership.
