Step Softly Step softly on the carpet and walk a silent pace; See the lush, fresh flowers; their scent a strong embrace. But touch not hard the mighty thorns; that brought these flowers to be; remembrance of a terror felt throughout humanity. Step softly on the carpet; hear mourning, tearful grief; sobbing, woeful shoulders, shaking as an autumn leaf. Do not deter the weeping, or try to soothe the pain; you'll be compelled to cry yourself, and never be the same again. Step softly on this carpet, where true emotions flood; and pray for peace and mercy; for it was made of human blood. 5/10/99 In remembrance of the victims of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado on April 20, 1999. |
