Telkon's Revelation

Strange one morn a playful breeze
Swept across Blon Telkon's dale
He laid aside his rye and cheese
To take chase o'er hill and swale
It led to unknown forest deep
He lost himself in thorny briar
He fell into inveigled sleep
With yawn nor warning prior
His dreams were filled with wayward haunt
Pursuing spirit, gnarling beast
Shadows hovering, long and gaunt
Faces wildly fleeced
Blon Telkon cowered in terror low
His cries to cease met disregard
No easement would his slumber know
His plague was fierce and hard
He began to recognize each fiend
One was pride and one was greed
Ruthless, waste and vile obscene
He realized his own misdeed
The demons mirrored Telkon's past
To face it he was mortified
To see the trail of evil cast
Had grown so long and wide
He saw the face of friendships lost
In life he knew he was alone
For all the evil bridges crossed
Blon Telkon would atone
His open eyes revealed his way
Not only from this wooded spot
His facile exit did display
A kinder, wiser lot
His lighter stance became renowned
His wealth was put to good
His name within the village crowned
In friendship Telkon stood
When playful breezes whistle by
Blon Telkon smiles his gratitude
For peaceful heart and gentler eye
With nary demon to intrude.
