A Perpetual Gift

All about me as I look,
I see the things I own.
A shelf of treasures of all kinds,
a lovely ring with shiny stone.

I know I have so many things
that some may never see,
and though I hold them dear,
they are not what mean the most to me.

The flowers in the vase nearby,
a word my soft heart comprehends,
these things have been presented me,
by cherished lifelong friends.

While things are beauty for the eyes,
it is the thought of friendships made,
that make me feel so richly blessed,
for friends are Heaven's pathway laid.
