Today I Touched A Rainbow

Today I touched a rainbow as I traveled through the hours;
for I felt the magic colors with their captivating powers.
And all the strings so tightly pulled inside me quickly eased,
while a peaceful feeling of contentment settled and increased.
The now departed rains left sunshine overhead;
to warm the heart and paint an arch it left there in its stead.
I stretched my hands to grasp it, for it looked to be so near;
and though I could not see it, I felt a gentle tear.
I knew it drew the tension I'd been holding from my day,
and took it in, absorbing it, until it passed away.
Yet with its touch it gave a vow that if I but recall
the memory of this moment and the wonder of it all,
that tomorrow when I feel the stress and tension start to grow,
its gentle hue will take it still, if I will let it go.
