Why do I do this to myself????? Its been like 3 weeks since the show happened yet I just thought about doing a feature. So this one, like all my othes, is gonna suck donkey balls. Okay, so I got there pretty early. Infact, I was number 3 in the door. I was really bummed out about that since i was like 30 minutes late and yet i was number 3 in the door. I actually thought that it would be AAA playing infront of me and 6 or 7 other people, but fortunately I was wrong. The place eventually was packed out to almost capacity. (Note capacity is a 166 people i think!!!!) The crowd was full of indy kids, skinheads, new school punkers, and old school punkers. I was really shocked. It was the most diverse crowd I've ever seen at a punk show. Oh yea, before I forget, there was another band that played before the show. They were your run of the muck, Pop Punk, Blink 182 clone. Heck! There last song had like a 30 sec. drum solo!!! How Punk is that???? Anyways, after a really long wait, Criminal Class USA finally took the stage. The one thing i can say about them is that they were loud! I thought they were okay but after a while I grew tired of them and went outside to excape the mosh pit. No, Im not a pussy. I just think that its ridiculous to waste energy on a mediocre band. Outside, there was a ton of people. This one punk named Jeremy, was really drunk and going nuts. Anyways, this couple was walking down the street and jeremy ran up to them and was like, "What do you think we are freaks!" and other stuff like that. Anyway, I noticed that the couple just happened to be Sammy and Angela Carter of Monroeville. I'm sure that this will not be an experience that they will soon forget. When Kamikaze took the stage I was really impressed. They were really good. I had heard some of their mp3s but I really wasnt impressed, but seeing them live is a totally different experience. The crowd was totally into them. The best part of their show had to be them ending with a cover of the Dead Kennedy's "Chemical Warfare". Finally, Against All Authority took the stage. Okay, before i go on maybe i should tell you a little bit about the Splash. The place is pretty small. It holds less than 200 people and the stage is not more than a foot to 2 feet tall. The area around the stage is no bigger than 20 x 15 feet. You maybe thinking, "Man that sucks!" Well, No, it doesnt. Imagine--if you have 10 people mosing thats like the whole crowd and you cant avoid it. This means tons of spills and a crazy crowd. And that is what AAA got. A Wild Crowd. A crowd that before them, had never seen anyone big in their hometown, with the exception of FYP. A crowd that ended up knocking over all AAA's microphones and actually disabling the Trombone players microphone. I really think that AAA was impressed by the crowd's energy. Or ,at least, in fear of their lives. AAA ended up playing a double encore so that has to say something. This the best crowd that I've ever seen at a show and i hate it if you missed it. |
