Warped Tour 2001 in a Nutshell

Hey whats up--boy do i suck at writing about stuff but ill give it a whirl since matt was not there.  Well, we left Monroeville about 6 and headed for New Orleans only stopping twice, once for gas and once for breakfast at Shoneys.  We got there around 11 maybe and i was the third one in the gate.  We walked around a while and got some merch and some free stuff, then headed over to Stage 1 to see the Vandals.

The Vandals played a pretty good set.  These are the songs i remembered them playing:  I have an Ape Drape, Oi to the World, and I have a date which they ended with.  Boy, i wish i wouldnt of waited 3 weeks to write this so i could remember more.  I do remember that Happy climbed the speaker tower during I have a date and did a dance and stuff.  To tell you the truth, I was Actually paying more attention to Davey Havok, who was singing all their songs behing the speaker tower, than watching the vandals.

The next group we checked out were the Bouncing Souls.  They totally rocked!!!  They threw free stickers out in the crowd and stuff.  Ummm I really dont remember any specifics though and they only songs i remember them playing were the True Believers and Kate is Great which they ended with.  Greg also shook hands with the crowd afterwards which was cool.

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes played next.  They had a cool bar on stage and got drunk and stuff.  Happy, from the Vandals, played guitar with the band which leads me to believe that former NUFAN guitarist, Chris Schifflit(Currently playing with the Foo Fighters), has left the group.  Me First played a pretty good set(I thought it could of been better).  I caught the setlist and will put it up on here for everyones viewing eventually.  Oh yea, I almost forgot.  Fat Mike totally dissed Sum 41 while they were standing behind him.  It was way funny.  Fat Mike said, "Sum 41 is up next, or Sum 14 if you combine their ages".  I thought the little guy was gonna cry.

Rancid was up next.  They played all their classics.  The crowd was awesome during this show.  Lars started the set by talking about how the group was on an indy label and had no manager and thats the way it was always gonna be.  I dont remember the whole set but i remember they played:  At the Wars End(or whatever its called), Ruby Soho, Roots Radical, ummmm crap thats all i can remember(doesnt it seem like i used to do drugs or something)!

Less than Jake was up Next!   They totally rocked!  All the skanks went nuts.  They came out to the Fat Albert theme song.  Mr. Skull was a no show.  They threw out tons of free stickers as usual, which looked like tickets and had a yoo hoo sponser thingy on it.  They played:  Happyman(First Song), 9th and Pine, Rock N Roll Pizzeria, All my Best Friends are Metalheads, Last One out of Liberty City, Surburban Myth, and Gainesville Rock City(last).  Well thats all i can remember.

AFI was the last band we saw.  They had by far the most energy.  Davey Havok was amazing.  His stage presence reminded me alot of Glenn Danzig.  He was constantly running around doing kicks and stuff.  The crowd response was pretty good, but ive heard it was worse than usual.  Davey climbed out into the crowd during Total Immortal which was pretty cool.  Oh yea, I almost forgot.  The Security was so afraid of Davey.  They were constantly running from him.  I remember they played these songs:  Fall Children(First), Sacrifice Theory, The Despair Factor, Days of the Pheonix, and Total Immortal(last).  They were amazing.

Pictures are on the way soon so be patient.
