Speech to Seattle School Board 10/23/02:  Carver Low (7th grade)

Hi, I’m Carver and I’m a 7th grader at TOPS alternative school.  I’ve made lots of great friends from all different ethnicities, religions and social classes.  I think that if you make TOPS a neighborhood school with one class set aside for kids from the neighborhood you will not only deprive the kids of meeting new friends because they will keep the kids they already know and you will segregate the school so it will become two schools in one and I definitely don’t want that.  I want it so that everyone has an equal chance at the school, so you have many different kinds of friends to choose from and no one will become or feel superior, as if they owned the school.

 Thank You.
