From One Couple To The Other

Part 1

I liked it, I really did! The times we would play side by
side, our backs against each other for the fans or just for our own
fun. How his moves were always smooth to be sure he wouldn't hit me
or how he would just support me if I was tired, I liked it. But Die
would always come and ruin it, all of it. He always was more happy to
see Die, the red head was maybe just more amusing or attractive to
him. They would smile all the time and play added part they just
created for their fun, they were just so good at it. I know I wasn't
good to him, I did so much mistakes all the time. To my surprise
thought he usually never said anything, neither did he smile to me if
I finally got it right, but it was ok wasn't it?
However, even if he was very nice and caring for every member of the
group, he was having more fun with Die. Like lovers. But Die did not
love him, I knew that. The red head loved Shinya deeply. Because when
we went to a cafe like the good friends we were he would always
talked to me about the young drummer. It did not annoy me of course,
as I always DID talk about Kaoru, I just found it very funny or only
just sweet of him. Especially the way the guitarist cared about Shin-
chan, teasing wasn't the best way to get the drummer and Die knew it
but he would tell me: "I can't help myself, he's too cute!" I would
laugh hearing that every time I asked him, it never changed, neither
did Die.

But Kaoru...Kaoru had changed, he was so cold now, so hard on
me...me alone. He laughed with Die, took care of Kyo and would almost
mother Shinya, but me...he was hard on me. He started to yell at me
every time. A little mistake and bang, Kaoru was glaring at me. As I
would not get one part correct he would scold me and ask me to do it
alone another time and again and again, until I got it right.
Sometimes it would take the afternoon so he would let the others go
and tell me to stay to practice again, again and again. I would get
exhausted but he did not care. "Again Toshiya!", he would
say. "That's not it, the others don't have such big flaws. Do it
again!" Flaws, I had a lot of those according to Kaoru and he was
right, Kaoru was always right. But it was so hard, why had he changed
so much? I did not like it, I did not like the way Kaoru was so hard
on me. Even if his voice was always so beautiful, yelling at me made
it so bad I felt guilty. I alone had done something to make him
change and it was my own fault.

Toshiya sighed as the practice had been going on for 2 hours
now and that's when he missed one note since he had been thinking, as
always. A loud noise of a guitar being thrown on the other side of
the studio woke him up. He looked at it. "Oh no..." It was Kaoru's,
he was mad at him again. He turned around and looked at Kaoru who was
glaring at him. "Toshiya! You practised that part ten thousand times
yesterday. HOW CAN YOU STILL NOT GET IT RIGHT?!?" The others were
just looking at him, wondering if Kaoru wasn't just a little too hard
on the bassist. Seeing Toshiya's helpless look, Kaoru shook his head
and sat on the couch not having any energy left to yell at the
bassist. "The practice is over, just...go will you." Turning around,
Kaoru went to pick up his guitar who was surprisingly not broken.
Feeling a hand on his shoulder, Toshiya turned around to look at Die
who was smiling at him. Die knew how hard it was on the bassist, but
he couldn't do a thing. He knew Toshiya had been daydreaming again
and that was the only reason for his failure. Toshiya smiled back
with a little water on the corner of his eye. He turned around taking
his bass and ran to the door.

"Damn Kaoru, that wasn't very nice..." The leader grunted and
went to see Shinya without any real reply to Die. He smiled to the
drummer who seemed to have something wrong with his left arm. Talking
sweetly to him, Kaoru took the arm to see what was wrong. Die made a
strange face at the sight of the little cute scene. As for Kyo, well
he just sweatdropped knowing perfectly what was wrong. He wished the
guys would just go to an understanding as their caring for each other
was just too obvious. Not saying a word he just left.
"Why don't you try to be careful then?" Kaoru smiled at the little
drummer who nodded back. Die couldn't take it anymore, so he
approached them with an evil smile on his face. "Yeah, be careful
Shin-chan..." The drummer looked at him a little surprised. "...we
don't want to drums to be busted after a week do we." Shinya closed
his eyes trying to keep calm after the mean remark and stood up
leaving the room with a pissed off look on his face. Die shook his
head keeping a serious expression on his face. "Look what you did
Kaoru, you made him mad again!" They looked at each other and Die
smirked making Kaoru laugh. "That wasn't very nice, he cares about
you." Taking care of his guitar, Die closed his eyes with the same
odd smile on his face and stood up to face Kaoru. "Hey, don't tell me
how to be mean will you..." Die turned his back on the
leader. "...and Shin-chan, does not care about me. I know he hates
me." Die left with a little wave leaving Kaoru alone.

The leader stayed in the studio for at least an hour, not
seeing the time run. He had a doll expression on his face, but if
only one would look at his eyes, they would see the hurt look. HOW
CAN YOU NOT STILL GET IT RIGHT! His words rang in his head. He knew
he'd hurt the bassist really bad and it crushed his heart just
knowing Toshiya hated him because of it. But he brought that upon
himself didn't he? Kaoru was so bad at showing his real feelings.
When he wanted to comfort the beautiful bassist the only thing that
would come up was a yell or a mean fact. Before, Toshiya was just bad
because he had little problems getting his parts right, but now...he
was only daydreaming! How could Kaoru not be mad? He was the leader
after all! No favouritism in the band, they had to be all equal, but
the young man couldn't help it. "He's so beautiful..." The first time
he'd seen the man was like a dream, he was so pretty almost like a
woman, but he wasn't. That's what was good as he'd always felt better
around man and this one was just pretty...near perfect to him. But
the guilt of being unfair to the others. He loved them all a lot, but
the bassist... It was different, it just was but he couldn't tell
him.
Shinya always supported him to do it, Shinya was the only one who
understood him. He loves Die. Kaoru had a little idea why but Die
didn't see it. Like Toshiya with me. Shinya was so painfully
heartbroken every time Die would tease him...but it was probably more
hard on Toshiya. He was just plain mean to him. But Toshiya deserved
better, besides...he had to hate him so bad, so why did he really
care? The bassist didn't love him back, that was impossible!

Kaoru just grew mad. Picking up his guitar he left the studio
closing the lights behind him. He slammed the door but the madness
just wouldn't leave. Damn it...damn...DAMN!
*******************

Toshiya just ran. Tripping on his bass once in a while he
would turn around on one foot and keep going farther then he'd ever
been before. It was dark outside already, how long had he ran?
Fifteen minutes, one hour...or maybe two. He didn't know, he didn't
really care. He could call a taxi anytime if he wanted to go
home. "Why didn't I just do that?" Toshiya stopped running and walked
slowly looking at his feet. His view blurred for a second and he
shook his head. Why was he crying? Oh right...because of Kaoru, it
was Kaoru's fault. He was so mean, he hated him! No, that's not
right...he loved Kaoru, with all his heart. He really did!
He sighed not really knowing what he was doing here. "If I'd have
gone right home, I could have taken a cup of coffee. Now I can't." He
had no money for coffee, he had to take the taxi home. He didn't even
know if he had enough for that. Turning around, he walk the other way
so it would cost less to go home.

He drifted again, dreaming of how a good lover could Kaoru
be. Smiling cutely, he kept walking on and on and finally pumped into
something or somebody. Falling on his bottom he woke up from his
thoughts and looked up. "Die." The guitarist smiled and helped
Toshiya up taking the bass in one hand and keeping his guitar on his
shoulder. Die noticed the pretty man's red eyes. "You've been crying
haven't you?" Toshiya looked away whipping the supposed tears off
from his eyes. "I have not." Toshiya smiled happily but the hurt was
still there, Die could see it. "You're not as good as Kaoru to hide
your feelings Toshi." He laughed and pushed him into a cafe. "How
about a little chat before I let you go home?"

The cafe was packed but the voices went silent when the two
guys came in. Everybody was looking at them. Hey, what can you do
when a gorgeous man and a beautiful "woman" come in, just look! And
they were, both of them, very attractive. However, believing they
were together, everybody just signed and turned around to drink or
eat what ever was in front of them. Die chuckled. "Maybe you should
try to look like a man, you keep the beautiful girls away from me."
Toshiya laughed making Die smile, that had helped a little after all.
Putting one hand on the bassist's shoulder, Die lead him to an empty
table and sat across from him. "Don't worry Toshi, I'm sure Kaoru
doesn't want to be so mean to you."
Toshiya looked down, the smile disappearing from his face. "I'm not
sure about that."
