lynne haselgrove, a beautiful and sensational friend, died before her 21st birthday in a car accident in Australia. I dedicate these poems to her. She lived every day to its fullest. I'll love her always, linds | ||||||||||
she, our morning view this isn't supposed to happen this isn't what we planned a friend forever, connecting others, across time and distance's cruel quicksand sweet smiles lent for all days to all who knew her, grace, simply caught up in laughing eyes, in kind-hearted thoughts how? why? eternity's sky could never tell the truth could never justify why she had to go someone so vibrant, so dazzling bright she never slowed and we all have busy lives giving worth to our days but what's the point in not taking the time to take in the morning view? to call on old friend to see what's new? and what's the point in always looking for something better, something bigger, than yesterday? what's the use in looking forward to the next season, the next rhyme when the one you got is perfect, so perfectly fine? she was perfection's wonder tops in all our lives she was a spark to create us all unite us as friends forever, the indispensable tether until the fall |

our sunflower you know i always thought friends forever and a day since that initial smile and glance my way there was always a step ahead of us to take you looked just like love pure and simple, sweeping into my room you ignited the casual into the personal linked the shining sun to the southern stars to the moon sticky australian mid-afternoons never a cloud to be seen when you were taking it taking it all in on a rooftop when you had a song to sing i was there, once, with you soaring past summer's blue tinged-sky, now you fly faster, higher above our chaotic lives an angel you always were an angel you've become i know grace caught you up and you're now floating above the chaos (but i wish for just a moment you'd come back down) i wouldn't trade my time with you for anything or more you were my southern cross, such passion and love i stand in awe of who you are - a perfect friend, floormate, sister, daughter your innocent joy still penetrates my life your steadfast compassion your hazel-flavoured laughter i know i've never cried so hard as i've cried for you tonight i search for you now, my sunflower, in the twinkling nightsky for lynne, october 2002 |

you never let oceans throw waves upon us you always let your heart be your guide your ability to listen amazed me i admired the respect and encouragement you gave and i'll never forget your song, your laughter or what matters to you most your family and friends You kept us all as one a solid interlocking network of love the fact that i adore you is mine alone to take, locked away, in my heart, in every tear where you'll always be with me, and always be near you, soft-spoken honesty kept my ideas on their toes inspired that dream - or plenty - which then became part of me you were the sun for all whom you knew god, what are we ever going to do without our sunshine, without you? for lynne, love always, linds |

now i'm just gonna sit here all quiet, quietly being colour-coding my life from my colourful old couch into the confusing and the mad, the insane and the sad tears drop for all the memories of you in between now where's the mercy where's the sense in taking away the morning view of the most beautiful, beautiful of girls? you were spectacular, sweetie, a spunky-alert dance machine you skipped down our b floor base relating the juicy tales of last night's brizzie chase you always had time for us, no schedule to abide whenever our uni doors were open, you slipped like a fish inside "hey ladies!" and "how you going?!" followed by a series of engaging lines opened our hearts to you, to your melody your imagination twirled us around and 'round your sensational pinky |
