trembling...
you feel it?
you feel it, don’t you
tremble
beneath your very feet
cupped
within the walls
of your biored hands
thinking it was safe
carried with you
a lost puppy
with eyes to the skies
an ever-growing smoke cloud
of possibilities passed by
of optimism shot through the heart
another piercing, unheard scream

at the table
doing shots of gloomy Sundays
the worth of our planet
within our grasp
yet all we can do is pad around
in slippered feet
whispering
and wondering
the question
the one we clearly need to be asked

will we ever stop?
running towards the end of the world, that is
run into our tomorrows
on full speed
towards the sorrow
of destroying what’s left
of what nature offered us
generously, she proffered us
with the sweet of apples
and haystack sighs
we’ve gone and gobbled them all
Up
Down
we can never go back to relish them now
will we ever think
to end crime upon crime against humanity
to let people live as equals
superiority a complex
too many governements are guilty
of wearing

we’re all guilty
as hell (if you believe in god)
as the worst of your dreams
(if you believe in those)
of all the ills of our bed-ridden
couch-skilled society
of all the wrongs one complains of
without thinking of how we can help

we can’t fake music
so why do we fake ourselves
and turn nature on its axis
and believe evil is all around
do something,
do something
why can’t we all just DO SOMETHING

you feel it
don’t you
tremble
I feel it too
a world heaving its last clean breath
of fresh air, of youth’s hope
and all our good intentions
scattered at our feet
what is our future worth
if it dangles like cheap earrings
ready to pierce the next outspoken minority

jolted
stopped
in the tracks
laziness cutting off circulation
of our collective mind
it’s really too bad
that our world can’t go back
to the way it was
that we can’t simply rewind
stop this feeling
of tottering
about to heave
so full of anguish
and pure trembling
