My Tribute to Ray Bourque | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is my tribute to one of the greatest hockey players of all time. We could debate the numbers for hours whether he deserves this title. But I'm not calling him the greatest just because of his numbers, but the way he handles himself on and off the ice. He is a gentlemen and no one will argue with me on this. He deserves this title because he is one of the last players of his kind. When I first started watching hockey, he was one of the first ones I saw. My eyes were drawn to him instantly with his amazingly acurate slapshots, hard hitting hip checks, always in position on defense, leadership and his hard work ethic. It was sad to see him leave after years of play for the Bruins. But Ray had a dream and sometimes you need to take a chance to see that dream come true. I respect him for the choice he had to make. I'm sure it was one of the hardest decisions he ever made. But he did it with grace and style, just like the way he plays the game of hockey. I wish the best of luck to Ray and hope he reaches that dream every child invisions, winning The Stanley Cup. My hats off to you Ray....May all your dreams come true. You are my hero! * |
