Get into it!  GruntThrusters '06 will be a totally awesome day of BBQing and Rocket Car racing.  You have been specially invited to design and construct a RocketCar to enter into GruntThrusters '06.  Entrants will be provided with an awesome soundtrack CD to inspire you whilst constructing your car.

Making your car / appetite for construction: Okay, first make sure your car has a bit of weight to it, otherwise it'll flip and spin and take some mongrel's eye out.  Your car also needs to have at least 3 wheels.  You might want to get some mad wheels/axles from a hobby/model shop.  Otherwise you could try some lego, meccano, old toys, rollerblade wheels or maybe Macgyver-up something of your own.
Also, no cop-out cars, ie you can't just strap a rocket onto some fancy car your Daddy bought you.
Motors: you need to get some C size rockets - apparently C6 are good.  And the rule is C rockets only - it's a bit like those stupid motor regulations they have at Bathurst to prevent Holden from beating the crap out of Ford every year.  You can get them from Canberra Model and Hobby Supplies - 42 Townsend St Phillip ACT.  Or maybe some other hobby shops around the place might have them too.  These rocket motors are ignited by electrical current, so we might ask Sparky Dan to knock up a fancy launcher for us.  But you can also buy battery poewred launchers if you want to do some testing.
Categories:
Distance - this is the big one, the Holy Grail of Rocket Car racing.  This is the trophy you want to come home with.
People's Choice - Awarded for design, attitude and awesome race execution.
Multi-Car race - if we can rig up a simultaneous launcher, this will be fully sick
It's all going down on the 26th of March, at a location to be advised.  Bring some beer, some snags and a fu ckload of grunt for GruntThrusters '06
See you there, unless you're chickensh it,
