Heart Magnet

Materials:
Small amount of worsted weight yarn (MC) Main color
Small amount of worsted weight yarn (CC) Contrasting color
Crochet hook, size E

Finishing Materials:
Tapestry needle
Plastic ring (1" in diameter)
1/8" narrow ribbon, 1/3 yd.
Glue
Magnet (optional)
Small safety pin (optional)

Finished Size: 5" X 5" at widest point of heart
Gauge: 2 rows= 1" / 4 dc= 1"

Heart: (Using MC)
Rnd 1) 18 sc around plastic ring; join with a slip st in first sc: 18 sc.

Rnd 2) Ch 2, (counts as first hdc, now and throughout) 2 dc in next sc, 3 trc in next sc, dc in next sc, hdc in next 5 sc, (dc, hdc) in same sc, hdc in next 5 sc, dc in next sc, 3 trc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc, ch 2, slip st in last sc, (counts as last hdc); slip st in base of first ch 2. Do not fasten off.

Ruffle Edging:(Using CC)
Rnd 1) Join new color; * Ch 3, (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in same st, skip 2 sts, (this includes the first ch 2 made in round 2 or hdc), sc in next st; repeat from * around; join with a slip st to base of first ch 3: 9 groups. Fasten off, secure all ends.

Finishing:

For heart magnet: Attach a magnet to back side.
For Pin: Attach a small safety pin to back side.
For either: Cut a small photo and glue to backside around edges.
Tie a ribbon bow from ribbon and glue to top of heart
