Stiffening instructions:

Trace the lines in FIG 2 on a piece of tracing paper. Extend the lines outward. Tape to a piece of heavy cardboard, and place a clear plastic bag or plastic wrap over cardboard. Tape plastic in place. Place bell in stiffener. With fingers, squeeze out excess stiffener. Using a 4 " foam ball covered in plastic wrap, place bell over ball. Pin the points of the bell to ea line so bell shape will be even. Let dry completely. When completely dry remove foam ball. Brush off excess dry stiffener.

HANGER: Cut a 18" piece of crochet cotton. Put a needle on both sides of thread. With one needle put- (5) 4mm white

beads, (1) 4mm red, (1) W, (1) R, (5) W. Move beads to middle of thread. Insert needle through any st on starting ch on bell, thread needle through 7 beads-(needle will be coming out by middle white bead). With other needle, sk 17 ch, insert needle through next ch, put needle back through 7 beads- you'll be opposite side of middle white bead). Pull tight so beads stand up by themselves.

On each needle- string on (10) W, (1) R,(1) W, (1) R, (10) W. On one needle put (1) R, (1) W, (1) R. Tie ends in a knot so it forms a loop. Take each needle and go back down through 10-12 beads to secure. Cut off excess thread. Dab knot with glue.

BELLS: Cut 3-12" pieces of thread, put on needle.

STRAND #1: (5-W, 1-R, 1-W, 1-R, 5-w, 1-bell), go back up through all the beads.

STRAND #2: (4-W, 1-R, 1-W, 1-R, 4-W, 1-bell), go back up through all the beads.

STRAND #3: (3-, 1-R, 1-W, 1-R, 3-W, 1- bell), go back up through all the beads.

Put all 6 strands of thread from ea bell strand through 1-4mm white bead (you may have to needle one thread at a time and put it through bead), pull tight, glue to underside of musical button. When completely dry glue button on underside of bell, at top, under the sc of Rnd 1. A blow dryer is very helpful to soften bell if you need to reshape.
