| Sausage Rolls 2 cups milk 1/2 c sugar 1/2 c shortening 2 pkgs dry yeast 6 c all-purpose flour (divided) 1 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 butter melted combine first 3 ingredients in a saucepan, heat until shortening melts, stirring occasionally. Cool to lukewarm ( 105 - 115) Add yeast and stir until dissolved. Let stand 5 minutes. Combine yeast mixture and 2 cups flour in a large bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 2 hours. Combine remaining 4 cups of flour, salt, powder, soda add to batter add too batter stirring until dough pulls aways from sides of the bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refridgerate overnight. Let dough stand until room temperature (until soft) about 2 hours. Turn onto floured board and roll into 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into small squares, Fill with sausage stuffing and squeeze ends together. Brush lightly with melted butter and let rise for about 2 hours. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 - 12 minutes (until lightly browned) |
| Sausage Stuffing 1 package breakfast sausages (thawed and deskinned) 1 medium onion chopped 1/4 cups smoked BBQ sauce 1 cup breads crumbs (white or wheat) 1 heaping tbsp of each : garlic powder, dried parsley, onion powder 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 1 tsp pepper (white or black) MIX ALL THESE INGREDIENTS TOGETHER IN A LARGE BOWL |
