When did the U.S.of A., freedom loving pinnacle of democracies – become a Global Empire, an occupying force with military bases everywhere?  It didn’t happen overnight.  TO SHINING SEA, created and performed by John Francis Bueche and Tom Snell, charts the natual evelotion of American Imperialism through 500 years of history – from Columbus’s gold tax on Espinola to Haliburton’s oil contracts in Iraq.  A critically-acclaimed smash from Bedlam’s Hot Summer of One Acts, TO SHINING SEA is a true history pageant featuring the words of our fearsome leaders alongside centuries of popular wisdom, buried history, and oft-forgotten facts in a fast-moving Bedlam spectacular – serious, satirical, visual, musican, insightful.  The production also features Kristin Rah Kojis and Ivan Weiner and is directed by Mr. Bueche.

Since 1993 Bedlam Theatre, “the gutsiest, riskiest theatre around” accoring to the Minneapolis StarTribune, has combined a distinctly playful performance style with elemtents of visual spectacle to produce a solid body of cutting edge performances for audiences in the Twin Cities.  Now, Bedlam’s wildly inventive insights and gut-busting sardonia make a rare escape from the land of 10,000 potholes with the August tour of TO SHINING SEA.
