CHAPTER 17

Liz just stared in shock as the roof of the house collapsed with Lucky still in it.

"-No. she whispered"

They had been driving Manny back from school when Lucky saw it, a house, with flames almost completely covering it. Lucky had stopped and gone inside it to check for people. Promising he would be right back. Now only 10 minutes later-the longest 10 minutes on Elizabeth's life and he still hadn't come out. She stood there not seeing anyone not hearing anyone even with the sirens of the fire department only a few blocks away.

"-Lizabeth? Manny asked from beside her his voice trembling where's Lucky?"

Liz looked at Manny in shock like she was just noticing him there.

"I don't now Manny. Was all she managed to get out."

The sirens were louder now and suddenly there were firemen all over the place shouting orders at each other. Liz suddenly snapped back into reality- this wasn't the time or place to have a break-down She ran to a firefighter - There's someone in there! The firefighter smiled grimly at her -I don't think so ma'am that house doesn't have any current residents in it right now, and if there was anyone in there they certainly wouldn't be alive now.... Elizabeth's heart skipped a beat. -NO! she started running toward the house and felt a strong pair of hands grab her and hold her back it was Lt.Taggert -

"Marcus! Lucky-he's- Elizabeth's voice started to crack up. He's in there! -I know, but there's nothing we can do. We don't want this to be another case of Romeo and Juliet do we? You have Manny to think about Marcus was strangely calm But Elizabeth wasn't listening
-LUCKY!! and it felt like the whole worrld went black...."

Elizabeth stood in the church, dressed in black, tears streaming down her face. Manny who was standing beside.

"-Elizabeth? Are you okay? Elizabeth looked down at him and gave him a big hug
-I'm okay Manny, I'm okay.
-Okay Lizzie. But he knew she wasn't okkay"

The priest was saying something about what a great man Lucky was and how he died a hero but Liz wasn't listening all she could think about was how Lucky had broken his promise to her-he promised he would be right back and he had lied. It was the first promise he had ever not kept. Elizabeth broke out into a fresh stream of tears and cursed herself for thinking that. She thought about the events that happened that day, when she woke up, she was in GH Audrey was there beside her and her eyes were puffy, but she smiled weakly at Liz when she say she was awake

"-Manny- Liz started to ask but Audrey said he was with Tammy. - and..Lucky?"

Audrey's smile faded

"-I'm sorry Elizabeth. Lucky didn't survive the fire, his body was found and identified by Luke and Laura earlier today."

Elizabeth stared a Audrey in shock and shook her head

"-No she whispered -no he's not dead, NO!"

Tears started re-streaming down her face he wasn't dead he couldn't be!! Yet the evidence was right there in front of her. She got up from the bed and ran to he bathroom and threw up in the toilet she fell on her hands and knees and screamed NO! LUCKY!

"-Elizabeth? Would you like to say anything else?"

The priest was asking Liz's head snapped up and she slowly shook her head and looked around the church everyone was there. The Quartermaines, the Cassadines, of course Luke and Laura, the rest of the Spencers, the Scorpios, Jason, Sonny, Carly, Micheal, Mike, Sly, the Jacks, V, Dara, Justus, and Marcus Taggert. She just stared at Taggert. He was the one who stopped her from going inside the building. She was grateful to him for that because she had Manny to look after. But there was just one thing that he said that kept nagging her. When he stopped her he said 'We don't want this to be another case of Romeo and Juliet do we?' What was he talking about? Elizabeth's eyes widened as she remembered something. Romeo and Juliet- that's what they were talking about in the car when they saw the fire! Lucky said 'It's too bad Romeo couldn't hold on for just a little bit longer.' Naw! It was probably just a coincidence. There's no harm in asking though. The church was clearing out now and it was almost empty except for Marcus Taggert and Tammy.

"-Tammy, could you take Manny outside for a minute?

-Sure. Come on kid.
-I'll be out in a minute Manny, I promiise"

Manny just nodded. Marcus started to head out but stopped when he heard Elizabeth call his name

"-Marcus wait! He walked over to her -When I was going to run into that housse, you stopped me and said "We wouldn't want this to be another Romeo and Juliet would we?' that's what me and Lucky were talking about in the car. What were you talking about?"

Marcus paused and looked at straight into her eyes and shook his head slightly

"-I just thought that maybe Lucky still was alive and I just meant that I wouldn't want you to kill yourself trying to save him. "

Liz's eyes widened at the hidden meaning, but she didn't say anything. There was a reason Marcus was lying and she wasn't about to question it. He put a hand around her shoulders and guided her out. As soon as they were out Marcus looked at her and shook his head slightly, to say don't say anything. Liz just nodded, confused. He gestured to the car and Liz nodded.

"-Manny! It's time to go now"

Tammy came up holding Manny

"-He fell asleep as soon as he sat down! Poor kid he must have a lot to digest. Liz nodded.
-Thanks Tammy She put Manny and she andd Marcus got in the car.
-Okay Marcus what's going on?"

Marcus kept his eyes on the road

"-I didn't think you'd figure it out this fast.
-WHAT is going on?!
-I can't tell you. But you'll see."

They kept driving in silence Manny still asleep in the back. They finally pulled up at a big green barn. Liz picked Manny up and they stopped at a door with a big rusty lock. Marcus pulled out a pair of keys and opened it and gestured to Liz to go inside. She stepped in and almost dropped Manny

"-Lucky!?"
