Chapter 20

Everyone turned around and looked at Luke. The vein in his forehead was abnormally red. He took his son by the elbow and dragged him away, nearly shoving the boy in front of him.

"-What the hell do you think you're doing? Asked Luke, whispering but angry
-I'm trying to save a life dad
-No you're trying to play the hero in ffront of your little missy that's what. There is no way in cold hell I'll let you do that!
-Why not?
-Because he is a Cassadine, that's why.. I don't care if he croaks, and neither should you!
-Oh so Nikolas is a Cassadine, he shoulldn't have saved Lesley Lu's life because she's a Spencer?
-That was different! She is his half-ssister! You are not related to Stefan nor obligated to him.
-So If I was the one in his bed, you woouldn't want Elizabeth or Stefan to save me because we are not related? God dad, have you listened to yourself? We are talking about a human being that needs my help, and he will get it!
-Have you thought about the risk? If yyour only kidney stops working, I have to say bye to you my boy
-I thought about it, and I'm willing too take the chance. Now, either you sign that damn form or mom does it and I will NEVER forgive you for letting your hatred get in the way of your heart."

Lucky went back to Elizabeth, and looked at Luke. The boy could see his father was in turmoil. He now had to choose between his son, or the hate he had for a family for most of his life. Lucky saw Luke approach the doctor, and gave him a weak smile.

"-Ok Doc, you got it, where do we sign? Luke said"

Lucky, Nikolas and Elizabeth sighed of relief, and the three teens took the two others in their arms, in a really tight embrace. They were now united, in grief.

Lucky went with the doctor, to start the procedure right away. An hour later, the hospital waiting room was half full. Mrs. Hardy was there, along with Sarah, supporting Elizabeth. Emily was there with Nikolas, Luke and Laura got the visit of Amy and Sonny, who had heard by Jason about the kid's action to save Stefan. Mrs. Lansburry and Charles were both there also. All conversations stopped when Helena Cassadine walked in. Nikolas got up and went to her, telling her to go home. She asked if it was a crime for a mother to be concerned about her son, but Luke went and put his arm around Nikolas' shoulders.

"-Helena, my dear, maybe you should leave. I know it would be a blast for you to see both Lucky and Stefan killed in the process, but this is a very simple operation and there is no chance of that happening, so do everyone a favor, make like a tree and leave."

Nikolas laughed, and Luke took him by the shoulders to make him leave Helena's sight.

"-Act as if you don't care boy. When she sees she can't gloat, she will leave"

Luke was right, she left 5 minutes later. Nikolas went and thanked Luke. The boy was still in aw of everything Luke did since Stefan was admitted to the hospital. He brought coffee, comfort, and laughter. Even Laura was amazed. It looked as if Luke finally realized Cassadines were human, able to feel pain and anguish. Finally, after what seemed like forever, The doctor came in the waiting room, immediately surrounded by everyone.

"-The surgery went well for both of them. Right now, we are crossing our fingers for the body not to reject the new kidney. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer, you can be proud of your son. This was really heroic of him, considering he saved Mr. Cassadine's life. Now, which one of you is Elizabeth?
-That would be me
-Lucky is asking for you. You can go iin, but only 5 minutes, he needs his rest"

Elizabeth looked at Laura and Luke. She didn't know what to do, she didn't want to insult them.

"-Go on darlin', it's OK, said Luke, understanding her turmoil"

Elizabeth smiled and followed the doctor to Lucky's room. Elizabeth's heart broke when she saw him. It looked like he lost 20 pounds, so little in the hospital bed, white as the sheets. He smiled when he saw her, and she walked to the bed. Lucky gave her his hand, and she took it to her mouth, sitting on the edge of the bed. Big tears started to roll down her cheeks, and Lucky slowly wiped them.

"-How are you feeling? She asked
-Like I got opened by a butcher's knifee. But I was happy to do it. You know, I heard somewhere that once you saved someone's life, you are responsible for it for the rest of your life. I guess your father is stuck with me now!
-You are crazy! Said Elizabeth, laughiing. I love you so much. I can't thank you enough for saving my father
-Elizabeth, let's be clear about somethhing. I didn't do it for you. Remember how we talked about ending the Cassadine/Spencer war? I didn't even do it for that. I did it because a human being needed my help.
-But still, that human being was my fatther and you saved him. Let me be thankful"

They talked a little, until Lucky started to be nauseous. Elizabeth left to let him get his rest.

A couple of days passed by, and Stefan was out of danger. Lucky was gaining more and more strength. He would've left the hospital earlier, but he had a big infection. Elizabeth was sitting on a chair by his bed, and they were playing a game of cards. Luke was still not happy about them spending time together, but he understood there was no stopping them. They were in love and ready to do anything to be together, even for one of them to lose one of his body parts.

"-I won this hand! Said Lucky
-You liar! I won!"

Elizabeth laughed and looked at the door. It just opened. A beautiful blond walked in, and smiled at Lucky, before running to take him in her arms. Lucky closed his eyes, and Elizabeth couldn't tell if it was from pain or happiness and missing.

"-Let me look at you! Lucky said, getting away from the girl. God, you are still so beautiful! When did you get back?
-A couple of days ago. I wanted to comme and see you right away, but I heard you were feeling well. Are you better?
-Yeah, I'm so ready to go home! Oh, Naadia, this is Elizabeth. Elizabeth, meet Nadia"

Elizabeth shook the girl's hand, wanting to vomit. Who was she? Nadia? Why, if he was so friendly with her, didn't he mentioned her once? Why did she have this worst feeling in the bottom of her stomach? Lucky and Nadia talked for a while, Elizabeth sitting on the chair, feeling left out. They were talking about stuff they did together, and people she didn't even know. Lucky was making the best he could to make her a part of the conversation, but she could tell Nadia couldn't wait for her to leave. Finally, fed up, she did.

"-I'm gonna go check on my father before going home and rest. I'll see you tomorrow Lucky. She said, on her way to the door
-ELIZABETH! Don't I get a kiss?
-Sorry, I guess I forgot! Elizabeth saaid, walking to the bed, and giving him a quick kiss
-I love you. Why aren't you coming bacck tonight?
-I have studying to do. Bye Nadia"

Lucky was stunned. For the first time, she didn't answer his "I love you". Nadia looked at him and smile. She took his hand, looking deep in his eyes.

"-Finally, we are alone. I wanted to talk to you about something I didn't want your friend to hear
-She's my GIRLfriend Nadia. Now, what''s going on? I thought you were never coming back
-I convinced my dad you had a right to know. I'd like for you to meet someone. I'll be right back"

Nadia left the room and Lucky perplexed. What the hell was that all about? Last time he saw her, nearly two years ago, her father was transferred to another town. Now, she had been back for a couple of days, obviously alone, and she had someone she wanted him to meet. Someone he had the right to know about. Finally, the door opened again, with Nadia walking in, a baby in her arms, around a year old.

"-I know this isn't the place to do this, but I don't know when you get home, and my father needs to go back to work. I'd like you to meet Jordan. He's your son"
