CHAPTER 28

"I'm sure that she's torturing him!" Lucky said as he once more launched himself at the door, only to be restrained by Ari.

"Lucky, remember what the doctor told you!" Ari told his friend. "The baby has not been born yet. She can't torture him! If you knock on this door once more, I think the doctor will just plain kill you! He was serious when he threatened it, I'm sure. There is nothing you can do in there but yell at Helena again and distract her from giving birth."

"If I was distracting her, maybe she'd give birth faster!" Lucky said as he broke his friend's embrace around his arms. "I'm fine. I promise I'm fine."

20 hours had passed since Faison had found them in the gym to tell them that Helena's labor had started. 20 agonizing hours, where Lucky spent most of them pacing the carpet outside Helena's door. At first he had been allowed inside, to support his wife through the ordeal, but the doctor had kicked him out when the screaming match between Helena and Lucky had started.

"This is all your fault!" Helena had hissed when another big contraction hit her, and Lucky answered just as loud with a "ME? You're the one who took my sperm to fertilize a frozen egg from the dinosaur era!"

When Helena had accused him of being a perverted young man lusting after old ladies, Lucky had accused her of being mentally insane for impregnating herself with her own grandson's kid to create some kind of super human.

The doctor then told Lucky it would be better if he waited outside, since he clearly didn't know that when a woman was in labor, the only thing the husband should answer was "Yes, dear," or "I'm sorry, dear." Now, because of that, Lucky was pacing the floor outside the delivery room, not allowed to go inside, only to hear the screams of pain from Helena. He wasn't concerned for the life of the old woman, his only wish was that his child would survive the ordeal.

"Come on, let's go get a cup of coffee," Ari said, forcing Lucky to move away from the door. Lucky tried to resist his friend's pulling, but he wasn't able to, and, pretty soon, he followed him to the cafeteria.

"I am telling you, Spencer, he is not here!" Stefan said for the tenth time, as Luke was trying to pick the lock of Helena's summer house in Scotland.

"Well, we don't know that for sure, do we?" Luke answered in a gruff voice, as the effort for opening the damn door was getting him hot.

"Actually, yes, I do! The housekeeper to this place is on my payroll and she told me that Helena came with Lucky here something like 3 months ago but they are long gone!" Stefan answered.

Luke looked up at him, with murder in his eyes. "And you didn't think it was important to tell me this since just this moment?" Luke growled and Stefan actually physically stepped back.

"I tried to tell you, but you kept telling me to remember that the only reason you took me along was because I would serve as a human shield if Helena had a gun but that I had to keep my mouth shut."

"And since when do you listen to me! Do you realize the amount of precious time we lost here?" Luke was nearly screaming. "I think you are doing this on purpose to slow me down, Cassadine!"

"I'm not, but every time I tried to let you know, you told me to shut up! You even told your guard dog to gag me, once. I did not like the experience and did not care to repeat it!"

Stefan looked over at his brother at the end of the lawn, and Roy growled. When Luke had found Roy and had asked him to go and help him search for Lucky, Roy had been hesitant. He knew his mother's whereabouts every step of her trip and he would have to work twice as hard to make sure Luke never found them while making Luke think he was helping. Things took a turn for the worse when his younger brother asked to come along in the search for his son. Roy had taken him aside and told him that Luke didn't know their relations to each other, and Roy didn't want him to find out. Stefan had agreed to keep the secret, as long as Roy promised not to make his life a living hell. Stefan had kept his side of the bargain, but Roy had not. It had been an interesting trip at best, an aggravating one at worst.

"Listen to me, Batman, I didn't want you here. You begged me on your knees to come along, so don't start getting on my bad side now. Roy and I could kill you and bury your body and no one would ever know." Luke threatened as he got up.

"For the record, I did not beg to come. I asked and you agreed, for Lucky's sake. Now, just because we have not found him yet doesn't mean I will be the designated scrape goat." Stefan answered coldly. "There is one house that we did not check, and I do not have anyone on the inside who can tell us if Helena has been there with him or not. I suggest we go there next."

Luke looked at Stefan for a long time, all murderous thoughts he had ever had flashing through his angry eyes. But, in all honestly, not all murderous thoughts were because of Stefan. He had been in this constant state of madness ever since Helena had dropped the bomb about her marrying Lucky and then walked out. Luke had tried to find her on her yacht, only to be told that madam had left the country for a couple of months. Luke had charged straight to Stefan's office at GH, dragging everything out of the man by threatening his masculinity. Stefan, feeling that this time nothing was going to stop Luke from actually doing everything he threatened to do, told Luke everything he knew about what had been going on in Lucky's life since the young man had been kidnapped.

Every single emotion had gone through Luke's body as Stefan told Lucky's tale of horror. Luke had been appalled by what the young man had gone through, disgusted by what they had done to him, scared of what it did to Lucky's heart, mind and soul. Luke promised himself, and Stefan, that he would find the witch and kill her. He would find her, rip the black heart from her chest and cut her head to make sure that she would never be able to come back to haunt him and his family again.

Right then, he left Stefan's office and went to find Roy. After his old friend agreed to help him find his son, although he had been reluctant at first, saying that someone needed to stay behind in case Lucky came back, he had finally give up and agreed to be a part of the trip. They would've been gone if Stefan hadn't shown up, asking to come along. Luke had agreed only out of respect for Lucky and the boy's desire to have a relationship with Stefan. Now, though, Luke could kill the man because he was too much of a coward to tell them he already knew for sure Lucky wasn't in Scotland.

"Roy?" Luke asked, his eyes never leaving Stefan's

"Yeah?"

"Can you find Stiffen's phone records? I want to make sure he isn't sending us on a wild goose chase to give his mommy dearest time to leave again"

"Sure thing. I'm on it."

"If I find that you are double-crossing me, Cassadine, this will be your last day on this earth." Luke warned seriously and thought that if, indeed, Stefan was working with Helena, the man had guts because his eyes never once flickered.

"I'm not worried, because I have nothing to hide." Stefan answered.

"There you go, Mrs. Cassadine, a healthy, beautiful, though small, baby girl," the nurse said as she tried to put the baby on her mother's stomach.

"Get her away from me," Helena said coldly.

Helena could not believe she had been through hell and back to have a girl. As soon as the doctor finally got the baby's shoulders out, the rest had been easy. The little girl had started screaming at the top of her lungs as soon as the doctor slammed her bloody bottom, and Helena had held her breath for a moment, waiting to hear the sex of the baby, before her world came crashing down at the mention of the girl.

Faison walked to the bed, smirking. He was proud of himself, as he realized he had been right about the baby's sex. "How are you feeling?" He asked in false concern.

"How do you think I am feeling, you idiot!" Helena hissed. "Everything I did, I will have to go through it again. Right now, though, we have more pressing matters that needs our attention."

"Like what?" Faison asked, although he had an idea of what she wanted.

"We need to get rid of it. " Helena said, refusing the address the baby as her. "Before Lucky finds out about the sex."

"You are asking the impossible, Helena. I cannot find a family to adopt your daughter before Lucky comes back from his coffee break with your boy toy."

"Must I do everything myself?" Helena asked with a sigh. "I didn't ask you to give it up for adoption, did I?"

"No, but..."

"No buts about it! If we give it up for adoption, Lucky will find out eventually and look for it. I cannot risk that. I don't want him to get his attention somewhere else. If he has his baby, he will simply cast me aside like yesterday's garbage. I need him broken, do you understand? There isn't a moment to waste, Cesar. I need Lucky at my mercy now, and the only way to do it is for him to grieve. I have no use for that baby. I didn't ask you to give it up, I asked you to get rid of it!"

"Breaking her neck shouldn't be a problem. I'll get right on it."

"Make sure Lucky doesn't see you when you go to the nursery. Don't break its neck, it will look too suspicious in the autopsy he is sure to ask."

"Then how am I suppose to get rid of her?"

"A pillow on its face should do it. Or make sure the blanket they always cover the babies with is in its mouth, the rest will take care of itself."

"I'm right on it," Cesar agreed, before exiting the room to find the new baby Cassadine and make sure that she didn't live long enough to open her eyes.
