Chapter 4

Elizabeth had not been in the chat since the night of her wedding. She was busy with school and Sarah was on the computer the rest of the time, saying she had a research to do, preventing Liz to even tell Cowboy what was going on. Finally, in the night changing Thursday to Friday, Elizabeth was able to get on the Internet at 11 O'clock at night. She wanted to send him an email, letting him know what was going on. After logging at Hotmail Elizabeth decided on what to tell.

Lorenzo,

I'm sorry if I haven't been around the last two days. My sister convinced my Grandmother to lend her the computer for some research, and I haven't been able to make her understand I had to at least tell you why I wasn't there. She said you probably wouldn't care, and maybe she is right. I just thought, after how nice you've been to me, I owed you at least to let you know why I wasn't around anymore. Last time we chatted I told you I would meet you the next day and I wasn't there. Normally I don't break my word, but, in this house, when Sarah wants something, she get it, no matter how much the same thing means to me. Friday night I won't be around either, I'm going out with a friend. If you want to meet me in the chatroom Friday night around midnight, I'll tell you all about it. Anyway, enough babbling, I'm sure you don't care anyway. Your cyber- wife, and new friend, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth closed the computer and went to bed. The next morning she got up 15 minutes before everyone. She wanted to have time to check her email to see if Lorenzo, by any chance, had left something for her. He told her she would get addicted, and it was true, she was. After logging in, she nearly squealed out loud when she saw she had a message.

Elizabeth,

Thank you for your email. We were worried about you. Moon was always asking what happened to you, along with Jackie (Jjsjoy, we finally learned her first name). I will let them know today after school that everything is alright and we didn't scare you away, like DSara thought. It's a shame you weren't around, there is a new girl that comes in, her nickname is JonoSRFan and she said it's for Jonathan Jackson, and his musical group, and Moon told me that Jonathan was your favorite actor. I won't be around tonight either, I have a date with one of the most wonderful girl in school, from what I know from her anyway. I'll try to be around in the chat at midnight like you asked. Hope your plans go well, and I'll see you tonight. I'm sending you hugs and kisses to get you through the day. Your cyber-husband who may be crazy but was starting to miss your daily visit,

Lorenzo

This was just too cool. He wrote back to her. That meant he got up really early, or went to bed really late. Elizabeth couldn't help but feel a little jealous at the fact that Lorenzo had a date. Oh that was stupid! She too had a date tonight, besides, Cowboy and Outcast were just friends, maybe they would become good friends, but that was it. Nothing more.

At school, Elizabeth was looking at all the guys, trying to find a tall, dark haired and blue eyes 16 year old. She would find out who he was. There was a couple of them but they didn't have Lorenzo's characteristic. Either they were too short, too tall or too blond. The only guy she saw that was close enough showed up at her locker, while she was taking her English books.

"-Hi Elizabeth

-Oh hi Lucky, how's it going?

-Good, he said with a smile. Are we still on for tonight?

-Of course. Unless you have something better to do

-Better than seeing my favorite lady on the screen with one of my favorite class-mate? I don't think so. Want to walk with me to English class?

-Sure. How can you say I'm one of your favorite class-mate? You don't even know me yet

-Well, that's why I'm taking you out tonight. He said, opening the door of the classroom

-Oh, of course, I knew that, said Elizabeth then she realized she talked like Moon."

Lucky laughed and sat next to her. The teacher had a big class prepared and they didn't have a chance to talk again. Liz was deep into the class when she caught Lucky looking at her. He smiled when she met his eyes, and looked at his paper.

After class Liz went to the cafeteria, hoping she would see someone familiar. Even after a week in that school, she didn't make one friend besides Lucky and she wouldn't sit with him. Or with Sarah. So, once again, she sat alone at an empty table. Why was it so hard for her to make friends? It had always been hard.

It was a nervous Liz that was waiting, sitting in the living room, for Lucky to show up. It was 6:15 and she was on time. Of course she started getting ready right after school, but at least she was on time. She was wearing her favorite skirt, with a nice blouse. Her hair was loose on her shoulders, and she was slightly embellished with make up. Like her mother always told her, less is more. Finally the doorbell rang and both Sarah and Audrey ran in the living room. Elizabeth was so embarrassed. Of course, if she had told them who she was going out with, this wouldn't have happened. Audrey opened the door and greeted Lucky with a smile.

"-Oh it's so good to see you Lucky, said the grandmother. How are your parents?

-They are both good. Thank you Mrs. Hardy, Lucky said as he passed by her to enter the living room. Hi Sarah

-Hi Lucky, I didn't know you knew Lizzie

-Well, she helped me get an A on my last English assignment, I thought I'd pay her back by taking her to this new movie

-SHE helped YOU get an A? Asked Sarah

-Oh yeah, Lucky sighed, couldn't have done it without her. Hi Elizabeth

-Hi Lucky, Liz laughed

-Are you ready?

-To go see Jonathan Jackson? Always"

Lucky laughed and opened her the door, while Audrey said Liz had to be back by 11:30. Lucky assured her she would, and they went on their way to the restaurant. Lucky took her to the Outback, and Elizabeth smiled, thinking of her nickname, Outcast. They started talking about everything, school, music, friends, pass-time. They joked about people in the restaurant, pretending to hear what they were saying. That made pretty funny stories, most of the time unbelievable. Elizabeth was having the time of her life. Lucky's smile and laugh was brightening up the room. She could see herself falling in love with him. Easily.

Lucky bought some popcorn (Ain't a movie without popcorn he said) and they sat next to each other in the theater. The movie was starting in less than 10 minutes, and Elizabeth couldn't wait for it to start. The curtains went up and Liz sat back on her seat. She had tissues in her hands, just in case. After reading the book, she knew she would cry, she just didn't know when. Lucky sat back and put his head on the seat, concentrating on what was going on, on the screen.

Elizabeth looked at Lucky, after Jonathan made his first apparition and leaned back to talk in his ear.

"-You know, she whispered, I never realized it, but you kinda look like him.

-Oh please

-No it's true. You have the same eyes, same height

-Elizabeth, are you having fun tonight?

-Of course I am why?

-Well, there won't be a second date if you don't take that back. I look nothing like him. Besides, I'm much more handsome

-I agree, and I take it back"

Elizabeth saw Lucky smile in the dark and she smiled back. It wasn't true, he did look like him, but, the way he was talking, there would be a second date, and she didn't want to mess it up by not agreeing with him.

The point she knew about arrived, and tears left her eyes. It was so heartbreaking to see Vincent like that. Lucky saw her tears and gently put his arm around her shoulders. His arm was still pressuring her at the end, as tears were roaming through her face. They got up and walked out, hand in hand. Lucky took her home, and they sat in his car, talking about the movie. From his point of view, Vincent was a little over-reacting, but Elizabeth made him understand what Vincent was going through by using Lucky's little sister he talked about earlier.

"-I love to talk with you, he said, out of the blue

-Why is that? She asked, defensive

-Because even though we don't agree on something, you take time to explain your point and not just get mad like some other girls would. I know he is your favorite actor and I thought you would jump at my throat

-Why? Everyone is entitled to their opinions even if I don't agree"

They talked more and Elizabeth had to go in. She didn't want this night to end, but, in the other way, she missed Cowboy and she couldn't wait to talk to him. They got off the car and he walked her up the porch.

"-I had a great time tonight, thanks for taking me

-It was my pleasure, I had fun too. Maybe we could do it again sometime. Soon

-Sure, call me

-Oh I will, goodnight Elizabeth

-Goodnight Lucky"

He kissed her on the cheek, a little longer than normal kiss would be, and she had the impression it wasn't her cheek he really wanted to kiss. "Damn she thought, if he wants to kiss my lips, why does he take my cheek?"

He ran to his car, waved one last time and went home. Elizabeth saw everyone was asleep and she ran to the study. Logged on, she saw Cowboy wasn't there yet so she sat and waited.

"Cowboy entered the chat

Cowboy: Sorry I'm late sweetie, I just got home

Outcast: Oh that's ok, I haven't been waiting long. So, how was your date?

Cowboy: It was the best I had in a really long time, if ever"
