Chapter 6: It's already too late
"So where are we going?" Lucky asked his brother as the car pulled away from the Spencer house. Luke had ordered him to go with Nikolas wherever the oldest son was going.
"I have A date with Sarah," Nikolas answered as the car got to its CRUISING speed. "And because of that old woman, I can't be alone with my own girlfriend. I have to bring my little brother along, as if I couldn't be trusted and needed a chaperone.
"You know it's not that. Dad trusts you, he just doesn't trust that psycho grandmother of yours not to hurt or take you" Lucky answered with a smile.
"I don't want you to stay between Sarah and me all evening, so she's gonna be bringing her sister and it's gonna be some kind of a double date. That way, I won't have you in my way and you will still be able to keep your eyes on me at the same time."
"Oh great," Lucky moaned in protest. He was now stuck with his brother's girlfriend's bratty little sister. Sarah had talked about stuff Elizabeth had done to her sister and other people around her. Elizabeth Webber was Satan's own daughter, according to the angelic Sarah Webber. "You could've asked Sarah's friend Deannie to be my date, instead of Sarah's baby sister!"
"Lizzie isn't that bad, really," Nikolas said gentlemanly. "Things are tense between the two sisters more often than normal, but when she isn't being a brat, Lizzie can be quite cool."
"I'm sure she is," Lucky snorted before he looked out the window. Why did he have to accept his father's orders to play chaperone tonight? His brother was old enough to take care of himself, and if that witch came to get him, Lucky knew two teenagers wouldn't be able to stop her, so why was he necessary? He already had a girlfriend, sort of, in Emily Quartermaine, he didn't need another one in Lizzie Webber. Lizzie, what kind of girl let herself be called Lizzie? It sounded like a porno flick girl's name! "Now that I think about it, why didn't Sarah ask Emily to come with us tonight? I'm sure I would've had more fun. It would've been like last time!"
"We already called Emily, and she had something to do with her parents. Don't worry, Lucky, I don't hate you That much as to let you be stuck with Lizzie if there was any other way." Nikolas answered in blunt honesty. He and Sarah had tried to find someone else for Lucky, but everyone already had plans. It was Friday night, and they had been trying to find Nikolas' little brother a date at the last minute, someone who wouldn't be too old for him, even though Lucky was wiser than his age. As Luke always said, both boys were teenagers, going on 40.
The only girl they could come up with, who didn't already had plans, although at first she said she did, and when Sarah cajoled her and then bribed her into breaking her so called plans, was Lizzie. Nikolas hoped she would behave tonight. He always said Lizzie was jealous of always being left behind, and Sarah had let her believe that, if Lucky liked her, the evenings where they would double date would happen more often. It was a bald faced lie, but it worked in having a promise from the 14 year old girl to behave tonight.
"Still. We could've gone to a movie. You guys could have made all the making out you wanted, and I would've watched what was on the screen, you never would've known That I was there. Why subject me to Sarah's baby sister?" Lucky whined as the car stopped in front of Audrey Hardy's house.
"Because," Nikolas answered as he shook his head, "Sarah and I didn't want to go to a movie tonight. We are going miniature golfing and you are bringing Lizzie with you as your date. Now stop acting like a brat and smile!"
"You're gonna pay for this," Lucky muttered as his brother rang the doorbell. "You are gonna owe me big time!"

"Luke, where are you going?" Laura asked her frantic husband. "You aren't going at the club, are you?"
"No, I'm not," Luke answered truthfully. He wasn't going at the club. He was going to meet with Helena Cassadine. He knew That she was in town, he was sure of it. All he had to do now was find her and slit her throat open.
"You aren't going after her!" Laura warned him with force. "I won't let you do it!"
"You don't have a choice, sweetheart," Luke answered, almost apologizing. "Lulu needs someone to stay here with her. And I need you to be here when the boys get back. Then, when I return, we'll celebrate the death of the praying mantis."
"But she isn't even IN Port Charles, Luke!" Laura pleaded helplessly. "The lawyer's letter came from Greece! You surely aren't going to Greece by yourself!"
"Laura, listen to me! She doesn't know That we have no intention of doing what she is asking of us. She probably suspects it, but she won't know That we are ready to fight back to keep our son! She will probably think That we will hide for a couple of days to think of a plan to stop her from tearing this family apart. While she thinks we are still at the planning stage, I'll strike! She won't have time to see it coming, baby!"
"No!" Laura said fiercely. "I won't have you risk your life before we have a chance to think this through! What if you fail? Where will that leave me, to protect our sons and our baby girl by myself? Did you stop to think about that?"
Luke shook his head, still putting stuff into his bag as Laura followed him to try and make him change his mind. But he wouldn't. His life wouldn't mean anything anymore if he came to lose his son, which he knew would happen if he couldn't stop the black widow in time. And stopping her meant killing her. It was as plain as that. But killing her while she could suspect it wouldn't work, they had already tried that. He had to do it with the element of surprise. But Laura was making a damn nuisance of herself over this.
"Look, Angel, I will do what I have to do to keep my son safe. If I have to die, I will take her with me, I won't die alone, that is a promise!"
***************
"Oh come on, hot shot, you won't make it!" Lizzie Webber told her date as he was bragging about making an impossible shot.
"If you would shut up long enough for me to concentrate, I would!" Lucky snapped back.
This had been a date from hell! First, she had made fun of his name. When he had said That his name was Lucky, she had answered "we'll see," nearly making Nikolas shoot his drink through his nose, and Mrs. Hardy almost have a heart attack! Then, she criticized his clothes, she even criticized his mini golf game! What was it with that chick?
"Well, what can I say, Luck?" Elizabeth said, leaning against his shoulder look at where he was sending his ball, "I guess I'm over excited, it's the first time I've played mini golf with a leprechaun."
"Oh that's it!" Lucky said, walking to her, threatening to hit her with his golf club.
"Whoa, Lucky," Nikolas said, getting in between the two teenagers, stopping his brother from doing something he would later regret. "I don't think this is a good idea!"
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't tie that club around that pretty little neck of hers?" Lucky growled at his brother.
"Because if you do, Sarah will hate me forever because I brought you with us," Nikolas joked. "Come on, Lucky, can't you endure her for another hour or so? Think of Sarah that has to endure her all day long, all week long, all year long?"
Lucky's gaze wondered over Elizabeth's cool and sarcastic face, while he was thinking of something vile to say to her, when he saw that her eyes were shinier than normal. Why did he think that what Nikolas said actually hurt her, when Sarah said that nothing could touch her? "Come on, let's finish that damn game," Lucky said gruffly, and added "Lizzie."
"I prefer Elizabeth," the young girl said snottily before she joined him on the 15th hole.
"And I prefer Lucky," the young man answered as he looked into her teary eyes. "Stick to it and I'll stick to Elizabeth, deal?"
"Deal"
"Would you look at that," Nikolas said as he wrapped his arms around Sarah, before he kissed her neck, "My brother and your sister actually getting along"
"It won't be for long," Sarah answered angelically. "She will find a way to make him mad again, you just wait and see"
"Let's not call for disaster, all right?" Nikolas chuckled in her ear
"I'm afraid it's too late," the man behind the two couple said in a whisper, as he followed to progress of the teenagers on the mini golf course. "I'm afraid it's already too late"
