The Goddess of the "rat temple" had once, hundreds of years ago, turned musicans into rats, so another God could not reincarnate their souls.
Feeding the rats, having a rat run over your feet, or touch you, is considered good luck! The small holy rats travel freely over the temple compound.
The white rat is considered good luck. Pilgrims bring holy food to feed the rats.
