CHAMPIONS: (to be decided)

procedures:

18 teams have been chosen; the member of the team that signed up has been notified by email.
There are 3 divisions of 6 teams each. There are no rankings and the teams have been assigned randomly.
In the "qualifying" round, you will play each of the other 5 teams in your division. Play a best-of-5 series, i.e. first to 3 wins, and have one member from each team report the score to me by instant message.
The three divisional winners, as well as two "wild cards" with the next best records, will advance to the finals. In the event of a tie, the team with the higher "difference" of games won vs. games lost will advance.
The finals will feature 5 players; each finalist will play against the other finalists in a best-of-7 series, i.e. first to 4 wins.
The team with the most wins in the finals round will be the champion. In the event of a tie between two teams, a 9-game playoff will determine the champion.
As best I can, I will try to update this page as results come in. The backup website is members.theglobe.com/towers_top20/index.html, so please bookmark that site in case the geocities server is being really slow (like last time).

rules:

"Targetting" is allowed because there should be no real advantage in 2v2, and this would be hard to police if it were illegal.
Games are unrated unless both teams agree to rate them.
If someone does not show up for their game, they will forfeit it will count as an automatic win for the team present. However, the wins-losses column will not change for either team.
If circumstances are reasonable (like you have to go to the bathroom or grab something to eat) we can wait for you for a few minutes, but long absences (~10 minutes) will not be allowed.
There is no frozen/black yahooing; players who use this strategy will lose the game or be disqualified.
You cannot redo "disconnect" games unless both partners agree to terms beforehand.
Be careful who you invite to your tables; last tournament we had some declines right in the middle of games...
