| My wife had pkd (Polycystic Kidney Disease) and was heading for a life on dialysis when we both came to a decision for me to donate one of my kidneys.This is our story and we would like to share our ups and downs with people that are experiencing the same difficulties. | I met Vivien in August 2003 at a bbq..We hit it off straight away and we have never looked back. I remember that night so well as it was yesterday.our friend Larry Hayes (pictured above) was there and at that time he was only Viviens friend. but as time progressed he and I became firm friends.One subject stood out more than any other and it was Vivien's renal failure which was caused by polycistic kidney disease (pkd) for short. As i was new to this I chatted and wanted to help this beutiful lady which was going to change both of our lives together. |

| During the first few months of our relationship me and Vivien talked and talked and it was good to talk about such a tough subject which would totally affect both of us mentally. but i was so determined to help because I knew that we were right for each other. On Jan 9th 2004 I asked vivien to marry me which thank God she excepted to my AMAZEMENT. |

| This is a photo of Vivien with her mum Dot and Vivien's dad Pete.Vivien was just 2 when this was taken and sadly Dot passed away in june 1967 leaving a big hole in Viviens life. Vivien's mum's passing could have been linked to renal failure, As she died of a brain haemorrhage and had high blood pressure although at the time pkd was barely heard of. |

| during the next few months we were setting up our home and everything but viviens kidneys was perfect.We went to our local hospital for Viviens 3 monthly check-up and the consultant said that Viviens kidneys were only working at 20% and he now wanted to see us on a monthly basis.Then we knew things were getting worse or he would kept us on a 3 monthly appointments. |

| polycistic kidney disease is caused by cyst growing and covering and destoying your kidneys and it is a gene that is carried through ones family so your mum dad brother and sister could have it as well . |

| The next few weeks were difficult but we still talked and the main topic was what can i do to help.And thats when i decided to offer one of my own kidneys up.At first vivien was against it because i would be putting my life on the line. |
