Beld
A light haired wirey youth of about the
age of 16, Beld has been on his own as long
as he can remember. His parentage is not
known. All he vaguely remembers is a light
haired woman, and many men coming and going.
One night, when Beld was about 5 summers,
a man in a shifting colored cloak came. He
smiled to Beld who was hidden by a chair.
Beld not used to being noticed crept away.
The woman argued with the man in the odd
cloak. After a few moments the sounds of
a struggle could be heard. The woman screamed
for Beld to hide! And hide he did.He learned
from early on to move and move quick when
the woman commanded him to do something.
He could hear someone searching and calling
to him gently. It was not the woman for she
seldom had a kind word for him. The only
time Beld can remember anyone being kind
to him was just before they hurt him. Yes
she had gentleman friends that preferred
the young boy to her. It was after those
times he learned to hide and hide well. Staying
as still as a statue Beld finally heard the
man in the odd shifting cloak leave.
The next day the queens guard came, and the
corpse of the woman hauled off to some potters
field. He was cast to the streets, by the
landlord, who told him to run and never show
his whore's welps face back around there.
Moving as silent as a mouse, Beld did what
he had to to survive. Moving from town to
town, city to city, he begs when he can and
steals because it is easier. Unnoticed by
most, he blends into the shadows like he
is part of the scenery.
