Tiras Bakuun
Tiras Bakuun was a morat'torm of the Fists
of Heaven in The Ever Victorious Army. He
was a scout for his army, riding on the back
of a mighty Torm. The Bronze scaled, six-footed,
three eyed beast that the Seanchan used in
their scouting patrols.
He joined the Army at the age of 10 as all
the male members of his family had before
him. His first posting in the Army was as
a cleaning boy, cleaning the cages of the
new and yet untrained Torm. The animals didn't
bother him and more importantly, he did not
seem to upset the Torm, something his commanders
noticed quickly. He never left the Torm,
and worked up the ranks to become "Morat"
(Handler) and took them into battle.
There was over population in the lands of
Seanchan, and the Corenne was an answer to
that problem, as well as bringing in much
needed land and natural resources to the
Empress on the Crystal Throne in the Court
of the Nine Moons. When the opportunity came
to see the lands of Hawkwing, Tiras volunteered
to serve the Empress (May she live forever)
as "Rhyagelle" (Those Who Come
Home) and crossed the Aryth Ocean.
Being a warrior society, the need for conquest
had not lessened any since the Corenne and
the Return. The Seanchan were still battling
for lands here and, were struggling to hang
on to the lands they had already won. It
was here, in the outskirts of civilization
that Tiras was sent. His unit fought small
bands of bandits and outcasts, stabilizing
the land for the craftsman and citizens who
were homesteading here from Seanchan. His
present posting had only had him here a year.
One night while on patrol, his camp became
overrun by bandits in a surprise ambush.
It was raining and lightning was ever present,
giving the battle confusion. At the point
of being completely overtaken, he feels a
burning in his blood. The only thought was
of survival, when a great bolt of lightning
struck the ground in their midst, killing
all of his attackers. He felt light headed
and quickly came down with a terrible headache
and fever. When he finally found his way
back to his unit he was put in the infirmary
for man days.
After a few more of these occurrences happened
he thought it best if he left the Army before
someone noticed these happenings and that
he was always around. He would surely become
a outcast, as men who channel are still not
accepted in Sanchan society.
