Azalyn like all Cairhienin, is short compared to most people, but her 5'2" makes her tall among her own. Her golden yellow eyes are the reason her sisters nicked named her 'kitten'. Her hair is red an odd trait among the Cairhienin.
Azalyn Damodred, was born in Cairhienin the youngest of 5 girls, a cousin to the late Moiraine Sedai. She grew up with tales about her cousin?s life in the White tower. Moiraine Sedai was Azalyn's roll model and she strived to be like her. She had two passions in her young life, playing at being Aes Sedai and helping to heal. By the time she was 14 she had a wide variety of knowledge on herbs and many forms of healing. In the stories of Moiraine she had heard once of a young women named Nynaeve and now strived to be like them both. As she grew it was noticed that she had a strong potential and she was shipped of to the tower to enter her name in the Novice Book.
She spent 4 years as a Novice and only 2 and a bit as Accepted on the day she took the three oaths Tower ritual was bent a bit as the Yellow Ajah approached her and began to persuade her to become Yellow. When she spoke the words upon the Oath Rod, she had chosen Yellow and was accepted with open arms by them. She spent most of her time as Aes Sedai traveling the country in search of women who had the potential to become Aes Sedai or who were just good at Healing. She opened a school to train people (male and female) in the healing arts though any students she found who could channel were shipped of to the Tower. Her school has long since become self sufficient and she thought it time to return to the Tower and so she has. In her time away from the tower she also founded one friend ship that she prizes. A sleek male mountain cat. Saved her life in the mountains of mist and since has decided to keep watch upon her. Sometimes its almost as if he thinks he is her warder. His name is Cerci and the only way to tell he is not wild is the jade belt around his neck. She had acquired an nearly fatal wound that day and to this day she can not remember what happened. She carries a scare across the side of her neck and thus always has it covered. |
