Dabre Gelricki
One of five children in a rather poor fishing
family on the outskirts of Illian, Dabre
grew up as any pauper's child would, begging
for spare change, pick-pocketing the passing
merchants, anything she had to to help pay
for the family's food.
Having such a lifestyle did have its benefits,
of course. Dabre learned to be completely
self-sufficient; she could defend herself,
take care of herself, get food for herself,
all by the age of 12. However, Dabre's lack
of a proper upbringing also had many downfalls.
Her parents both died at a young age, from
curable diseases they could simply not afford
the medicine for. She also lost two younger
brothers to illness and decided, for herself,
to leave Illian forever, and take her sisters
with her.
So, at the age of 15, Dabre was alone, caring
for two young girls and completely lost.
She knew they were in Lugard, but that was
all. They had no money, and no where to go,
when miraculously, a farm couple took them
in, just like that. The girls worked for
their stay, but it was better living than
any of them had ever known.
One day, however, the farm couple was visited
by an Aes Sedai, a Healer, who was there
to help the woman give birth. Afterward,
she noticed the spark in Dabre quickly and
took her immediately to the White Tower.
Dabre had to leave her sisters behind, but
she knew they would be safe, for once. Dabre
was a quick learning, and a strong Channeler,
stronger than most in Earth and Water, as
well as Air. She chose the Green Ajah for
various reasons, including her loathing of
the famine and pestulance the Dark One promises
to bring down on man, but mostly to protect
those too weak to protect themselves.
Dabre, therefore, has a unique personality;
one of compassion and caring, as well as
hard discipline and determination. She towers
among the others at her meager height of
5'6" or so, and she finally allows herself
to indulge in silks and satins for the first
time in her life. Dabre has truly found her
place in the Tower; a strong Sitter for the
Green and a trusted figure among the Aes
Sedai.
