Lianna Aybarra is a descendent of Perrin Aybarra, but she does not know the relation. Her mother said she was a cousin of his, but had moved from Emond's Field when she married Lianna's father. There was some disapproval of her choice as a husband. Lianna grew up in a small village outside of Baerlon. Her parents died in a flood caused by bizarre storms that occured while Lianna was bedridden with fever. She was 12 years old. When she recovered from the illness, she was sent to a local inn to stay with Mistres Hagan and earn her keep. She is 23 years old now and channels unknowingly when frightened or angry. Her village blamed her for nearly every bad weather phenomenon whether deserved or not, and finally chased her out when they had had enough. Mistress Hagan took pity on her and suspecting she was a wilder, sent her to the white tower. Lianna's education has been limited. She can read, but has had little else in her education so has no real historical knowledge. Aes Sedai were subjects of scary stories for naughty children in her life. She holds herself allof and distant from others and is slow to trust in anyone. She is fairly average in appearance. Her face has a pixie quality and her smile, though rare, is pretty rather than beautiful. Her hair is dark brown and falls freely to her waist. She is very thin, having been less than ideally treated over the years. In her more recent past, Lianna was taken prisoner by a man that could channel. The only name she knew him by was Cal. She happened upon him in a wooded area outside her village. Knowing she could channel, he shielded her
and took her to a remote building where he held her captive for some period
of time. Periodically, he would come to her room and take her outside the
building and basically torture her. He had found that his own power
strengthened as he inflicted pain on others. One day, while he was again
abusing Li, he was attacked by a wolf. The attack startled him enough for
him to drop the shield on Lianna and she channeled to defend herself. She
called lightening and destroyed the building and the man. Unfortunately,
she also caused quite a bit of damage in her village and was forced to
leave. Now, she is very intimidated by all men, a fact that she tries to
hide.
