Tasia
Tasia has long dark hair that curls in small ringlets down her back. She has a small frame, and is only about 5' 3'' tall. Her heart shaped face is one of a child and holds large brown eyes, a small nose and pouty red lips. She has one distinguishing mark on the side of her right knee, it is a patch of freckles about the size of a child’s palm. She inherited her good looks from her mother, and due to the fact that she matured early in her life she has already drawn quite a few looks from men.
On her 10th birthday she received 2 leather bound daggers and a small silver flute from her father. Every day after work he would come home and teach her how to handle the daggers, and how to throw them and fight with them. Tasia learned on her own how to use the flute, but because she was musically talented she had no problem at all learning. From her mother she obtained a small ruby, the size of a woman’s thumb nail, with the family crest engraved upon it hanging from a silver chain. And finally from her brother she got a quarterstaff carved out of a willow tree. He made fine engravings at the top and bottom of the staff and carved her name in flowing script along the top. After her birthday he began teaching her how to use it.
Tasia’s brother, Grayson, is her best friend as well as her mentor. Although he is a boy, Tasia strived to be just like him in attitude and manner if not in appearance. She looks up to him with great respect and admiration, and it is a great loss when he died before she reached her teens. Grayson excepted her for who she was, and did not try to change or make her into something she wasn’t. One day he went out hunting, but he never came back. Tasia stayed up nights waiting for him, holding a lantern in front of her so he would have a beacon to light his way home. Finally he was found, torn up and barley recognizable. They said that the wolves got to him, but Tasia always had her doubts. She was 11, three months till her 12th naming day, and she had already suffered the greatest loss in her life.
Tasia grew up with her Mother, Father and older brother, Grayson, in Far Madding. Her family was a Power fearing family, and believed anything that could channel, or was related to the power, was from the Dark One. When Tasia became sick at age 12 they took her to an outside doctor, but before they could reach their destination she became better, though she could tell something was different. When they were back home, they heard of another girl with the same sickness who had died, two days earlier. Once more Tasia was taken out of her home town and that was when she could sense it, a hidden power calling to her, though she could not reach it, something blocked her. When she told her mother about this she grew frightened and was told never to speak of it to anyone, this was on her 13th birthday.
For 6 more months she lived in Far Madding, and during that time Tasia became a woman, in more than one way. She had matured early, and still being a naive girl she had no sense to be frightened when men started looking at her in strange ways. Even at 13 she was a lovely girl, and before she reached the age 14 she was ravished by a local farm boy, and then again by his friends on the outskirts of Far Madding. It was partially her fault though, she was young and trusted them too much, they said that they wanted to show her a patch of wild flowers. She was horrified. She felt dirty and full of shame, the power called to her, asking her to use it. Blindly she struck out with it and almost killed the boys who had spoiled her. When the boys were found, they testified that they found her practicing her witchcraft and they tried to stop her and she tried to kill them. Of course, no one listened to her when she tried to defend herself and she was accused of being a Dark Friend and chased out of her home.
That night she snuck back in to speak to her family, surly her mother and father would help her. However, when she returned they renounced her as their daughter and gave her 2 minutes to leave before they sent the arms men after her. She had just enough time to grab her necklace, daggers, quarterstaff and a bit of food before she heard the dogs. As quick as she could she ran from Far Madding and she ran until she passed out from exhaustion.
She awoke the next morning and entered a small town where she met a woman whom she could sense, somehow, had the same ability as Tasia had. Tasia talked with her and was told that the lady was an Aes Sedai from the White Tower and soon Tasia was whisked off to the Tower to become a Novice.
Tasia is a little shy around strangers and she has a naturally quite voice. She inherited her nasty temper from her mother, though instead of yelling and screaming she has a different way of expressing her anger, she gets cold and impressionable. She can go without talking for days and has been know to lock herself away in her room just to read, for days. She is not troubled by silence and does not like to waste words in meaningless chatter, unless it is with one of her close friends. The only other thing she enjoys as much as reading is music. She loves to sing, and has quite a good voice, as well as play her silver flute that was given to her on her 10th birthday. She is very wary of men, due to past experiences, and gets very nervous around them, especially when they start to show interest in her. She hopes to one day get rid of her fear of men, and be able to function normally around them. She is not very good at hiding her emotions, as they always show in her eyes, and she was never good at lying. She has a very strong will and is not afraid to stand for what she believes in.
When Tasia is really nervous is will play with a lock of her hair, twisting it or twirling it around her finger, or she will play with her silver necklace. When she is thinking or concentrating hard, she will stick her tongue out the side of her mouth. When she is really angry she will tighten the corners of her mouth slightly, but that is the only indication that she is starting to lose her temper.
