Well here it is, not much of a story to it. We first saw the herd about 8:30am among some cows about 3 miles away. We drove the truck down the road some more, then on to the edge of the field they were in. We were able to get within a 1/4mile... after some low walking and some crawling I was able to get within 170yrds. Because of time constraints and money issues, I was willing to take the first decent buck that I saw.. this one was good enough for me, and there are not many out there that are much bigger, and the big ones are really hard to find..
Well, I got the bipod extended, lined up on the bug, and I could actually hear the bullet travel to the buck, as well as the wet smack of the bullet hitting. The heard moved about 30yrds, but the buck didn't look like he was going to go down... So I let another one go, this time he hit the ground like a ton of bricks..
It turns out I pulled a little on the shot and hit him the back end, I'm glad I was able to get the second shot off...
Rough guess on score was 65", and offically scores 65 2/8"
