My father and I had a good day at the Day Kamp this year.  It was cooler this year but still sunny with temps around 70.  We didn't think it was as exciting as last year though because on the Rock Pile they put three HUGE rocks right in the middle that prevented just about every one who attempted the Rock Pile from completing it.  It also prevented many people who had originally planned to run it from doing so.  You can see for yourself below just what I am talking about.
23 DEGREE ARTICULATION RAMP AND OFF-ROAD COMPETITION
Here I am on the left on the ramp.  I scored a 422 this year, up from 399 last year.  Still pretty pathetic.  They measured my approach angle at 57, departure angle at 30, and ground clearance at 11".  You can see some of the other Toyotas below and a couple other cool trucks.
ROCK PILE
The Jeep below was one of the first to attempt the Rock Pile.  This Jeep was equipped with one of those new Warn coil-over suspension kits for YJ's and CJ's.  In fact, I saw a few Jeeps with the new kit which really surprised me considering the kit was just released, is time consuming to install, and is expensive.  Well, after this Jeep got over the three HUGE boulders, the right front suspension area collapsed!  Apparently, there were a couple of crappy welds and it gave away.  Too bad because the Jeep would have made it otherwise to the end of the pile.
This custom Suzuki on the left bashed its way over the rock pile, bending and breaking parts along the way, but made it to the end.  It also posted the second best ramp score of the day, over 1000.
This old Jeep on the left was awesome.  He had the best score on the ramp of the day and won the off-road competition.
This Toyota below is actually the same one from last year that bashed its way over the rocks last year (refer to my write-up of last years event).  This truck has changed since last year, alot.  He now sports 35" tires, an ARB Bullbar (can't wait till my ARB Bullbar arrives!!) with a Warn winch, etc.  He made it up on top of the three HUGE rocks and the engine died.  He had some kind of electrical problem and the truck would not restart so he had to be pulled off.  Too bad because he would have made it all the way through the pile with relative ease.  The guy was pissed, he would have been the only Toyota to make it, in fact he was the only Toyota to even attempt it this year.  He got the problem fixed and was at the Rock Krawl the next day.
Toyota pulls out a Jeep!!  This was before the Toyota broke down.
This pic gives you a good idea of just how big the rocks really were!!
This Grand Cherokee was really cool!  It was so muddy that you couldn't tell what color it really was.  It was equipped with 31" M/T's, ARB Bullbar with winch, custom snorkel, etc.
