INTRO

Who am I?

Once, There was a loving couple. They were happy and content... except for one thing. They had no children. so, they prayed to God for that, and fortunately, the bride became pregnant. Before she found out that she was pregnant, she had a dream. She was in a field of peppers with a pear in her pocket. Pepper ment a boy and a pear meant a girl. Since it was the pear she was holding, everyone interpreted the dream to mean that the child would be a girl. So, the couple prepared for 'her' birth, buying baby girl's clothes and toys.

One day, the 'mother' went to the doctor and asked when would 'she' come out(the doctor in Korea is not allowed to tell a pregnant mother if her baby is a boy or girl since parents may prefer a boy more than a girl, or the opposite). And so the docter said,

"Oh! Your baby? I think his, or her birthday shall be Feb. 13th!"

Thirteenth? Oh, what a unlucky number.. the mother thought. and she looked up the calinder... and the day of Feb. Thirteenth was Friday....

Friday thirteenth is said to be a pretty unfortunate day. The couple, who soon will be parents, were worried a little... no, a LOT.

They decieved temselves into thinking that their girl would be laughed at because of her birthday. They talked about it every day. That one day too, they were doing the same worries over again. They were on the way home, and suddenly, the baby stirred violently. The Mother had to go tho the hospital very quickly. There was a problem with the mother's womb, and the baby had to come out earlyer than expected. So the baby's birthday became Feb. sixth.

Could the baby have been hearing the conversation between his mother and the doctor?.... .... Oh, The baby came to be a BOY despite of everybody's expectation. The boy was named Yang Seung-Jik, meaning, 'some grass, conecting some willow trees..(?).' Most Korean names have a certain meanings(For example, I have a friend who's name means a bright red shooting star.. cool, huh?), but the boy sure had a strange one. Mother says that she named it because it sounds best among other choices.(he could have been Jung-jik, Ung-jik, Guang-jik) There can be other reasons why they named the boy Seung-Jik, but they won't tell, so we'll never know.

So, here I am, having all kinds of troubles even before the begining of my life; and still am going on... ...
