Installation Procedures/TIPS
  • First and foremost, make sure the mirrors work! if the store where you bought the mirror can test it for you.. much better! make sure they retract and the mirrors pan up and down before you pay. They can do this by tapping a live 12v wire onto the end of the socket wire.
  • A little bit of warning though: These mirrors were originally intended for the RIGHT HAND DRIVE AE92.  Its hard to see the right side, the right side has a different angle kahit sagad na ang mirror wala pa ring makikita.. mahirap makakita.  What i did is i bought those "fish-eye" round mirror stick-ons.. it works na rin.... it takes time to get used to it.
  • If you can find a mirror with full wire harness.. much better, make sure you have the 7 end wire socket.  There are two types of this folding mirror for the ae92, the other has only 3 wire socket end.  Three wire end means there are no motor mechanism for the retract inside the housing of the mirror. The three wires are only for the panning of the mirror itself.
  • Avoid surplus mirrors with crack on the housing.. I find these mirrors to have a brittle plastic.  Seek the "freshest" in immaculate condition surplus.. hehe surplus na nga.. namili pa. :o)
  • before paying.. make sure you have an agreement with the shop that you can return the purchased parts if found defective.. always.
  • Test the mirrors by connecting the end wires of each mirror then tapping them to the RELAY (MIRROR CONTROL) the wires are color coded.. explaining them here.. that i dont know.. hehe.. email BARUMBADO for the wire tapping.
  • IF YOU DONT WANT TO TRY IT FOR YOURSELF.. DONT EXPERIMENT! I recommend REYS ELECTRICAL, at P. Tuazon Cubao, Q.C. to install the mirrors.  Labor/installation will cost you roughly 1,200 (est.) kay BARUMBADO libre (our fellow TACP member)
  • Do not re-paint the mirrors unless you have found 'em perfectly working and retracting.
  • Test the RELAY.. Switches.. they should go in harmony with the mirrors.. if the RELAY and the switch is faulty, useless ang mirrors.
  • Never have your mirrors installed by FREELANCE INSTALLERS, NEVER let them dismantle the switch, relay, mirror housing.. these are solid state parts.. they weren't built to be repaired..they're disposable if opened na.
  • Tell the installer to put a fuse for the line of the mirror.  You either have the choice if you want the mirror retract to function even if the key is not inserted.. direct tap to battery 12v constant power or the mirror only works if the key is in the ignition on.
