Why Duncan took it upon himself to try and instruct one of these hot-headed Spaniards, I'll never know. It seems to me that he's wasting his time. Sooner or later, the girl's unabashed lack of humility and blatent disregard for authority is going to get her killed--permanently. To be perfectly honest, even if she does manage to survive her first challenge, I would not expect her to last longer than a half a century. If MacLeod were to follow through with his previous threat and take Maria Teresa's head now, it would probably be the most merciful thing he could do for the girl. |
