Gandhi

Altruism, and me

Indians were suppressed by England fro a long time. One of the renowned people named Gandhi contributes his whole life on non-obedience and non-violence. Even Indo was plundered by England or other nations, Gandhi didn¡¯t stop insisting his opinion. Did it work? Yes, it did because Indo finally emancipated from England. However, did Gandhi¡¯s assertion actually affect England¡¯s emancipation? Even though, Indo could achieve liberation, I cannot agree at Gandhi¡¯s assertion completely. Therefore, I want to give him only 50 out of 100 because non-obedience and non-violence isn¡¯t realistic and cannot be accommodated to all people.

To begin, it is true that Gandhi¡¯s persistence has nothing to criticize on itself but it cannot be adapted in real world. Gandhi did suggest idealistic idea but it was too idealistic that became unrealistic. According to Gandhi¡¯s opinion, people should not repel violently. Only thing they can do is trying to negotiate or protest without violence. It is true that world need peace and should pursue non-violence but I want to ask him. Is it possible? In my opinion, it seems stupid to endure all force. For example, if the country was attacked by enemy, did the country should not fight against the enemy to pursue or maintain peace? Enemies will just invade other countries easily and plunder all things from the country. Moreover, look at Korea¡¯s movement on March 1st. That exercise was affected by Gandhi. Therefore, that movement also pursued non-violence. As a result, many people were killed and pained but it didn¡¯t bring emancipation. Korea can achieve liberation after Japan had failed on World War 2. Therefore, in my opinion, Gandhi¡¯s assertion has nothing to do with real world.

Next, even though Gandhi followed his opinion, not many people can walk on the same way as Gandhi did. Enduring all pain is difficult thing to do. When people were tortured, they would just obey at the one who tortures. It¡¯s human nature to avoid pain. For example, in previous time, Korean police used some tortures to confess one¡¯s crime. In modern days, however, it was forbidden because some people tell lie to avoid torture or they cannot bear tortures. It is obvious that not many people can endure all tortures. That¡¯s why Gandhi¡¯s suggestion cannot be used generally.

To conclude, Gandhi did suggested ideal idea but it was too ideal that cannot be realized. Moreover, not many people can follow Gandhi¡¯s idea because pursuing comfortableness is human nature. Therefore, I want to give Gandhi 50 points for keeping his speech that not many people can do but I cannot give him another 50 points because his opinion cannot be adjusted at real situation.
