Chapter 2
Hiei lie awake that night, thinking, just thinking, about that girl. He looked out the window at 3:00A.M and wondered where she was.
'Is this love?' he thought. Kurama looked over to the window from the couch.
"Hiei? What are you doing?" he asked quietly.
"I'm...I'm... nothing. Nothing." Hiei shook his head and headed for the door.
Tira was sitting in a tree, staring at the sky.
"Twinkle, Twinkle little star....shine on me please." she whispered. Hiei saw her, she looked troubled because her eyes and face were red.
"Hi, remember me? You beat me in battle earlier." He said. She jerked her head towards where his voice came from.
"You? What are you doing here?!" she sniffed and wiped her eyes.
"Are you ok?" Hiei noticed he was being nice, but didn't stop to think about it. She was....so beautiful. Yes, the thought even puzzeled him.
"Yes! I'm fine." she said, her voice straining and clearly holding back tears.
"No. You're about to cry your eyes out. I can tell, I'm not stupid." He looked her in the eye.
"OK! I got raped, and kidnaped when I was 10." She muttered.
"What?" he asked as he climbed up and sat by her,"I couldn't hear you."
"I was raped when I was 10, and then kidnapped. It's my birthday today, and I miss my parents." she said. He looked sympathetic. He offered a shoulder to cry on. She took him up on his offer, and cried to her heart's content.
"And now.." she managed to say between sobs," The guys are trying to find me so they can do it again." she said. He frowned, and put his arm around her. She laid her head on his shoulder and he smiled, stroking her hair.
"Don't worry. I'll protect you." Hiei said.
Below them, Yusuke, Kurama, and Kuwabara were watching.
"Never thought he'd fall in love. Huh guys?" asked Kuwabara.
"Yeah, but he really needs a girl in his life." agreed Kurama.
Back up in the tree, Tira and Hiei were looking in each other's eyes. Hiei leaned forward, and they kissed, passionatly.
'So this is love' thought Hiei. He was glad he had found Tira.
