MARCH 04 | PLUSHZETTE VOL 1 ISSUE 1 |
Petpets, we all know them. Little critters that hop all over neopia seeking for a loving pet to take care of them. Most of them do find a nice home. Yes even those slimy slithering slorgs or noisy kadoaties. But some petpets go through great horrors. Let us take a look at each one of them carefully. The Box! Ah yes, most of probably have done this before. You bought or won a cute petpet but all your pets already have a petpet. And you don’t want to take down one of the old petpets because it has been with your pet for quite a while already. So what do you do then? Yeah I guess you could sell the little cutie but let us assume that you like the creature too much. Maybe its big begging eyes convinced you to keep it. So what most people do is put the petpet into the Safety Deposit Box with the thought that it will be safe there for any villains that are lurking in shadows, ready to steal something. But have you ever stopped at the fact that petpets are more than ‘items’. They are living beings! They breathe, eat, sleep, play and like any other creatures they need love. So I hope it has became already clear to you that the SDB is NO place for petpets. Tell me, how would you feel to be locked up in a box day after day with very few room to move since the other items take up some space also. Exactly! I hope you’ll think twice now before depositing anything breathing again in your SDB. The Gallery… Some would say this is not so horrible for the petpets since they are in the company of other petpets who they can play with. True, very true. I must agree that it’s better than that box but still…Do you think that 1 petpet gets the proper attention he/she needs among all those other petpets. Probably not, how could it be any different anyway. It’s practically impossible for a owner to remember what each critter needs since they are all so different. And do gallery-petpets see any other daylight besides the few sunrays that fall trough the windows of the building. No, not only because they are not allowed outside but also because they have to stay on their spot during the day for any humans that may want to view the gallery. So could you say that a gallery is the ideal way to keep petpets when your pets already have a little fellow? No! Food! Yes dear Neopians. This may shock you but some petpets are processed into foods. Let us take a look at each one of them The icy little creature that listens to the name Bluna was first sighted under the ice caps of Tyrannia. But the bluna burger was first sighted in neopia central. Who started to spread this vile product is still kept unknown. I wonder how that person can still sleep at night. To my surprise the Bluna Burger is a highly demanded item. With its rarity 98 it’s considered as a gourmet food. Well if this is considered gourmet then give me a Gruel cake any day! The second distributor of these kind of products was the spooky food stand in the deserted fairground. Hmmm no surprise there. Some of the test your strength petpets that should have served as prizes were taken ,since they would never be won anyway, and turned into snacks. The petpet Intesteen got pricked onto a stick and can now be found in shops as baked intesteen and the Orange goople got scooped into an ice cream and then was put into the refrigerator to become a cold snack ideal for the hot summers in the haunted woods. You would think that a rare petpet would be a good reason not to turn it into a food. Well not for the spooky shopkeeper! He roasts Green Tentacles, throws them into a bowl with some green gooey substance and for the finishing touch he sprinkles some sunflower seeds on it to have a nice Roast Tentacle dish. But not even krawk island was safe. It seemed like some octornas disappeared on the island and turned up again in the haunted woods as Octornapies. Snorkles seem to be the most popular petpet to progress into food. We have the snorkle snout which there has been a great demand for since it became an avatar item and then we have the not so much seen snorkle pudding. Hence this last item is also a gourmet food since it’s so rare. *cough* gruel cake people… And last but not least there is the edible plushie. I bet you wonder what this has to do with petpets right? After all it’s just a simple plushie. Wrong!! Do you know what the ingredients are to get this cooking pot item. I’ll tell how they make it. First they throw some Ghost Marshmallows into the cooking pot and let it simmer for a while. After five minutes it’s time to toss in the main ingredient. A gremble gets lowered into the boiling cauldron, it merges with the ghost marshmallows and when its done a lifeless edible plushie comes floating to the top. I hope all you plushie collectors look different now at this precious “plushie” in all your galleries. Supporters of eating petpets. The most known petpet eater must be Florg the Devourer, the mutant chia that roams at the Space station seeking for a new snack. Not only does he eat them himself but he also tries to convince fellow neopians to eat petpets with his game that so many have already played. And even the peaceful atmosphere of Christmas cant stop this chia’s appetite, as this was shown in the “Florg and Kadoatie” greeting card. The second supporter is Balthazar the Lupe. The first time he showed us how evil he was by catching faeries in bottles and then sell them for high prices. But he didn’t thought he did enough evil deeds already,no. Now he also had to start terrorizing a little kacheek shepherd by eating all the petpets in the game Extreme Herder. Luckily this game doesn’t persuade others to eat petpets since in this game you have to save the petpets. Thumbs up for everyone that helped Samrin save his herd in time. The third supporter is a petpet itself. Yes we are talking about the Turmaculus here. Everyday thousands of pets send their petpet to this massive beast in the hopes that their petpet shall return with a little treasure. But for 2/1000 of the pets the result isn’t a great feast since the giant petpet ate their little buddy. Tell me, how can a petpet be so cruel towards other petpets! And here are some minor petpet eaters that still need to be mentioned. Skeiths and grarrls can eat petpets too. Hey, they can eat anything. But they won’t do it on their own free will. Most of the time it depends on their owner. So be a good owner and don’t feed you’re grarrl or skeith ANY petpet. That means alive petpets and the petpets turned into foods. So there you have it. A little darker view on how a petpet’s life may go. Take care of your petpet, love it, play with it just DON’T eat it !! A big cheer goes out to all those good petpet owners out there. Bye! |
