Beginners Guide to Restocking

By slurpy_slurpin

A term that you might hear quite often on neopets is "restocking." What does it mean? Why do so many people talk about it? I hope to answer some of your questions here.

First of all, the term "restocking" means to buy items out of the main shops of Neopia. It is probably the best way to earn Neopoints and earn them very fast. However, restocking can sometimes be very difficult. The main shops are unfortunately plagues with things called "autobuyers." These are programs that automatically buy rare items out of the shops much more quickly than any human can do so. Fortunately, Neopets catches many of these cheaters.

Even without autobuyers though, restocking is still difficult. If you are in a popular shop, there might be anywhere from 50 - 1000 people in there too waiting for the rare items to show up. This means you have to practice to become good. Some of the most popular places to restock include the food shop, toy shop, magic shop, and stamp shop. The reason these are so popular is that there are some items that are stocked in these shops that can be worth millions of points! It would be nearly impossible for any new restocker to get these, so you might want to take an alternate route in your earlier restocking days.

You should start out restocking in a shop less "crowded" than the other popular ones. One that i find excellent would be the Pharmacy. They stock items in plentiful quantities that you can make profit off of. Take for example the item "Magic Cookie." The Pharmacy stocks almost 30 of these each time for a mere 300 - 500 Neopoints. Even a new restocker on a 56K modem should be able to snatch one of these. You can then re-sell this item for about 6,000 points. imagine the profit! After you have become more experienced in restocking, you can move up to more popular shops and sometimes make 100,000 - 1,000,000 Neopoints A DAY!

There is yet another downside to restocking however. Neopets recently implemented a "restock ban." This means that if you refresh the shop too many times waiting for new items to appear you might get temporarily banned from the main shops. Don't worry though, if this happens, you will be able to get back onto the main shops again though, as restock bans only last anywhere from 1 hour to 1 day. If you aren't seeing any items appearing in the shops, it's a good sign that you might be restock banned. How do you tell if you're restock banned? Go to the Tiki Tack shop in Mystery Island. This shop stocks worthless overpriced items, and if there aren't any items left, then you're probably restock banned. You should always take advantage of the 3rd Day of the Month Sale in the shops too. Every 3rd day of every month, the prices in the main shops are cut in half. That means you can profit from almost any item!

Hopefully this guide will help you on your way to Neomega-millions! Maybe you can start looking at buying that Plushie Paint Brush after all!
