Wheeling on Mt. Etna

My friend Cory and I drove up to Mt. Etna after a big snow storm to make fresh tracks in the snow.

The road that we wanted to drive on was where the snowplow stopped.  There was a large snow bank in the way but we were able to drive over it without any problems... Well Cory had a little problem of getting high-centered but one quick yank and we were off.

We were plowing through the snow just fine until we came to the spot pictured at top.  At this point I stopped moving forward and then the tires dug straight down.  No problem if properly equipped...  Out came the High Lift jack.  We lifted the Bronco up and filled in the holes under the tires with snow.  Next I aired down and we drove off.  With the tires aired down I was able to float on top of the snow with much more success.  The trick of course is to minimize tire spin.

Cory's Jeep doesn't have the sinking problem my Bronco does.  It's lighter and has tires that are just as wide as mine.  Cory was able to drive everywhere without airing down and as long as he didn't mash the gas peddle he was fine.
