I was born in Western Kansas, more specifically Colby, and started really taking photos on an expedition to the Monument Rocks very near Oakley. Since then, I have done many different things to pursue my hobby. I have only entered one photography show, and while it was small I won both first and second prize.
I worked for two years in a small photo developing lab which had a non-used studio in which I began to experiment with many willing subjects around town. While there, I was hired to take several senior pictures, aerial shots of local farms and farm related businesses, and even hired to take the official shots of Colby for the Colby Visitor Center which was constructed in 2003.
My third semester of college I worked as a staff member for the
University Daily Kansan
and while there took more than 30 assignments, many of which were featured on the front page of the publication.
All in all, I've taken engagement photos, wedding photos, aerial photos, campus photos, journalism photos, Christmas Card Photos, senior picture photos and many many more kinds.
I also very much enjoy other forms of art--while I'm not very good, I like the catharsis I feel when painting, drawing simple pictures, and I really enjoy batik.
I started taking photos to have fun, and have continued that enjoyment. In order to receive money for college, I will be selling photographs online. I created this website to display my work in a make-shift virtual portfolio, and hopefully you can all appreciate it!
