I joined the Crew of the Interruptor(Tracer) in July of 1958 they had us in a barrcks at N.O.B. in Norfolk Va..   .Well first of all we went to every two week school the Navy had I guess You know how the Navy is you don't have time to sit around and get bored. Some of the schools were Firefighting and advanced, pumpschool 'biological warefare and the advanced to that, chemical warefare, gunnery school at Dam Neck, damage control and the advanced to that and so on each one was a two week school.
Finally we were bused to Charleston to board the ship at last (hot damn no more schools).Well to my surprise the ship yard had not supplied anything aboard but what was welded and screwed down and I bet you can't guess how the rest of the supplies got on board. You got it ,all hand working parties all day long I was thinking we are going to sink this ship at the pier with all this stuff we are putting on it.You would get up in the morning and chow down go up on deck and look down the pier and see tractor and trailers as far as you could see(oh! for the good old school days)well to make along story short we got every thing on the ship without sinking at the pier.

Hope to see you all in Pensacola, Fl next spring.

Hello to all,
I will definitely attend the reunion in Philadelphia.. I just recently was in SF and saw Barry Bonds hit is 600th HR. When it was over I went to Pier 23, which I believe a certain XO made all of you guys attend the day before we set sail, to test your mettle. You all always passed with flying colors.(pictures of this outing are on the next page thanks to Bruce Johnsen)..
