| These are a fast growing spider that is one of the giants of the spider world. They are a beautiful chestnut colour, copiously covered with long salmon coloured hairs, especially noticable on the rump, which gives this large arachnid it's name. They are a bulky spider that will flick urticating hairs if pushed. When young these are very active and voracious eaters, as they mature they become far more sedate and end up being visible "Pet Rocks". This is not a bad thing as these are a stunning spider that is bound to impress, and the fact that it does not want to hide makes it an ideal spider for the keeper who wants an attractive tarantularium. Size: 9 inch plus Heat: 75 -80 degrees Humidity: 70 to 80 percent Habitat: Terrestrial (Brazil) One thing to remember with these is that they are moisture sensitive, especially when young. As they get older you can begin to bring down the humidity. It has been suggested that under the right conditions these could rival the Goliath (Theraposa Blondi) for size. I would not suggest these for a starter spider but as long as you remember that these are best left alone and not handled, then they will make a good second or third additional to any collection.
