The Place Music and lyrics by Tracey Leanne Lutz
Background I wrote this song in the fall of 1999 when I was dating Alan. I remember when I wrote it I played it for him, and he asked me why I never wrote such pretty songs for him. By this time, I had probably written 10 pretty songs for him. Bastard. This is another song that falls into the group of songs that I haven't actually experienced. It's about death.
Lyrics Verse 1: Love take me away from this place, Lead me somewhere safe. Love show me there’s more to this life. Take me to the place. Fear is not residual here, In my precious place. I close my eyes and blink back my tears. Waiting for the place. Verse 2: Don’t you ever search the crowd, Looking for a face? Wandering through a sea of haze, Don’t worry, your face is in my place. Don’t be afraid to die, Don’t be afraid of faith. Live your life and say good-bye. I’ll lead you to the place. Verse 3: People die every day, And go to the place. And people cry every day, ‘cause their family and friends are in the place. People turn off the lights, And end up in the place. People say good-night, And join me in the place. People have no faith. People need to see my face. ‘Cause I’m crying in this place. ‘Cause I’m dying in this place. Verse 4: Love take me away from this place Lead me somewhere safe.
