Traveler Music and lyrics by Tracey Leanne Lutz
Background I wrote this song near the beginning of 1999. I had a very short involvement with a guy I knew. He was incredibly attractive and nowhere near my type, but there was a strong sexual attraction between us that we acted on to a degree. One night, after we left Kits Pub, he asked me to come home with him, and I didn't. Everything pretty much fizzled after that, but it was unfortunate because I would have like to pursue something with him, or at least have given it a shot. Dedication To the man I turned away.
Lyrics Verse 1: Traveler on the hillside of my heart Tried to trespass but never got started Wonder and ask you if your heart is breaking Knowing we’ll never be together again, there’s no mistaking it Chorus 1: One night, you wanted me there One night, I thought you cared One night, you loved me Verse 2: Smokey cigarette rings flowed from your lips The first time I ever wanted to kiss them Since then you have kicked the habit Sadly you kicked the habit of me too Chorus 2: One night your lips were on mine One night our emotions were blind One night you loved me Alternate verse: Every once and a while, I see you take a drag of someone else’s cigarette I think there may still be a chance for us And you know it, but you refuse to show it Verse 3: So travel to the mountain of my soul Maybe then I could let you go I won’t bet you that you wouldn’t be in my heart I’d rather save my money and buy a new guitar Chorus 3: One night you asked me to come inside with you What would have happened if I had? That night you would have loved me For just one night, you would have loved me One night. One night. One night.
