"Not sad it's over, but happy it happened!!" - part 2
7th October 2004
...After that effort, we found a tiny beach, the only one on the island we'd been fishing off of, and explored...it was beautiful, and I could have stayed there for days!  On the way back to the mainland, a dolphin found us and came to ride our bow-wave for a bit...I loved it!!  Evenings were spent around the camp fire cooking up our day's catch...it was bliss!  But back to civilisation, and Denham, before heading out a few weeks later for another camping trip, this time on the beach...who can beat chipping fresh oysters off the rocks and having a few beers around the campfire at sunset? :o)

But, with my time in Shark Bay drawing to a close, unfortunately it was time to say goodbye to this amazing area and beautiful people and head over to the "big Smoke" that is Sydney to reunite with Shaz for our last few days together in this stunning country.  We shopped up a storm and finished our last few tourist sights, including having dinner at the revolving restaurant in the AMP Tower to celebrate Shaz's birthday.  And sooner than we could say "possum", our last night in Oz was upon us and we were celebrating with our remaining friends in Sydney.  Thanks to everyone who met up with us then, was good to see you guys, even though it was so hard to see you all walk away...and that was it...the day I never imagined to arrive...we were on a plane and out of there...to Bangkok...our stop-off for 4 days befor being dropped back into the UK.

Well, now I'm sitting back home in the UK...people have asked me how it is to be back home...the only word for it is "surreal"!  As I've moved around so much over the last few months, feels like I'm gonna move onto somewhere else soon...had a thought to ease myself back in gently I may have to pack my life into my backpack again and move around rooms in the house every night with my sleeping bag!!  Oh, and of course cook up some "2 minute noodles", and have someone storm into my room at 4am turning on lights and generally being annoying...those who've stayed in hostels will understand this!!

So, it just remains for me to thank everyone who came to my "welcome back to reality" party, and to say "that's it"...the journey is over...for a while...and to not be sad that it's over...just happy it happened!!

Until next time...
